I strongly oppose SB 171 and SB 1024 as being oppressive to the middle-class homeowners of Connecticut.

There is never a time to add a state wide property tax. It will force people to leave this state. When is enough, enough!!!!

You should also mention the high and multi level taxation in CT is a losing battle given the obvious data showing increasing numbers of families moving OUT of CT as a direct result. Any increase in property sales in CT as a result of the pandemic is purely temporary.

I am 87 (a retired teacher) and spent a lifetime with my husband (a retired doctor) to purchase our dream home I Rowayton. We have ibed her for 30 years. I am on a fixed retirement income which is already eaten away every year by an enormous e property tax. But it is my dream to stay here until I die. One more tax will drive me from my home.

Cost of living is already high, adding this tax will only drive it higher

The statewide property tax is a repeat of the property tax increases proposed previously to pay for teachers' pensions, in lieu of fixing the pensions, particularly the provisions for full retirement benefits after 35 years of service, for many teachers at age 56 or 57, 10 years before the rest of America qualifies for full Social Security benefits at age 66 or 67, and to avoid actually funding teachers' pensions by using unreasonable actuarial assumptions and kicking a huge and exponentially growing unfunded liability down the road. Statewide zoning mandating multifamily housing in every town in CT will potentially destroy the rural character of CT and may not pass muster a legal matter.

I am adamantly against this tax. We pay a huge property tax already for one of the smallest houses in a more affluent area. But we have lived here for 30 years and this Tax could drive us out of this home and end my 87 year old mother's dream of dying in the home she (a teacher) and her husband ( a doctor) spent years saving to buy.

Zoning and property taxes should be decided locally, not by the state.

Why would you even consider raising taxes after all the financial loss we have suffered from COVID? Leave local zoning alone!! If I wanted to live in a town/city surrounded by multi-family units and/or apartments that's where I'd be.

We have too many taxes already and most if my friends are leaving the state because of these taxes!!

CT are already overwhelmed by the burdensome tax structure. Help families survive and flourish. We need thoughtful spending and tax reductions.

Bill 1024 is a false step to creating affordable housing and should be debated by society as a whole. The Dems did not have this as part of the platform. Hence there is not mandate for this from the recent election.
