Oppose Statewide Property Taxes and State Control of Zoning

Looks like Nikita Kruschev was correct when he said " Americans will hang themselves with their own rope " when do we draw the ammo?

No no no!!!

I fully understand why all my friends are moving to Florida. I am 110% against SB 171 "AN ACT ESTABLISHING A STATE-WIDE TAX ON REAL PROPERTY" proposes a "mansion tax" on all properties assessed over $300,000 !!!

Dead set against any targeted tax increases. I oppose. Zoning is a local issue not upstaters controlling my area.

Zoning must remain in local hands!!!!

You're rich if you have a 300,000 home? Ya, tax the wealthy!

This Bill was designed and pushed through by a special interest group representing Hartford’s Mayor and his wife during covid. We need to understand how this will impact towns and cities and get input from them before voting on new laws. Why can’t we work together on a solution? Greenwich is diverse, and has a lot of multi-family housing.

Any increase in Property taxes will force me to retire out of state, forcing me to sell my home and leave Connecticut.

These bills do NOT promote diversity; they only would increase density. If these bills go through, we will have a bunch of high rise condos instead of our single family neighborhoods. Greenwich would become a high rise village for NYC commuters. Must oppose at all costs!!

I oppose all state property tax and state led zoning mandates. These are contrary to American freedoms and will decrease property values as well as drive taxpayers out of the state.

Local communities don’t need to be told by Hartford what’s best for them.

I have been a Stamford resident for my over 50 years and this mansion tax or any hike in taxes is ridiculous. I suggest getting rid of the sanctuary state we can utilize the money for better things. We live in one if the richest state why impose more taxes? People will leave this state and no business will stay. We need to do away with things like sanctuary state this is no benefit for the citizen of connecticut. Also, getting foxwood on board with mohegun sun gaming will help bring in revenue.

I oppose this move as this is yet another form of unnecessary taxation - especially when we just started having a net influx of residents to the states and real estate markets improving. The state needs to address pension o locations and other contract issues with state employees before bringing on any new taxes
