This is just another attack on the middle class. The fact that any legislator in our state can think that a property assessed over $300k in Connecticut is a 'mansion' (this would include nearly half of ALL properties) should tell us all we need to know about the people running this state. It's time to wrest control back from the progressive, leftists who have taken over the state. If these laws pass Connecticut will lose its middle class to states with no taxes and legislators who serve the interest of their constituents rather than themselves. If these laws pass Connecticut is destined to become a state of extremes—extremely wealthy and extremely poor.

this is an unfair tax and continues to drive property owners out of CT! $300k is NOT a mansion, and it's becoming unaffordable to own property in CT, just to be able to provide a good education to our kids and to live in a nice neighborhood

Nearly every home in Fairfield county is assessed for over $300,000, so the bill would effectively tax ALL homes. Our senior citizens living on a fixed income, and middle-class families who worked their entire lives just to own a small home, have seen their property taxes rise exponentially with all the tax and spend policies of decades. Everything they worked for, and saved for, going to a government that cares little about them, but will gladly tax them to give all the "free stuff" to others. Enough! No New Taxes!
And subordinating city and town control to state zoning control is very dangerous and bound to result in harm to many localities and residents. PROVE that these great policies work in Hartford and other failed cities in CT, the rest of CT may listen to you. Until then NO town should consider relinquishing control to Hartford bureaucrats.

I would urge all elected officials to reject any effort to impose a statewide property tax as well as any state control of local zoning laws

If this bill is approved, the State of CT will drive residents out of town, lower property values and gut the state- THIS IS A DEVASTATING BILL AND RIDICULOUS! THE STATE SHOULD LIVE WITHIN ITS MEANS. FEWER RESIDENTS BUT TAXED KEEP INCREASING AND CT DOES LITTLE TO ATTRACT BUSINESS TO EMPLOY PEOPLE.

Don’t these proponents have something better to do with their time?? I vehemently opposed the passage of SB171. It is empty, baseless and totally counterproductive in service to the residence of Greenwich.

No more taxes or state zoning control. Greenwich is diverse already, has over 30% 'minority' residents, over 20% of students qualifying for food support, has a well thought out approach to integrating affordable housing across neighborhoods...don't tread on me...

This collection of bills would both make living in CT more expensive in a market that is already among the highest in the country, while simultaneously reducing value of homes that people have paid astronomical prices for already. If these pass, I can guarantee you as someone born and raised in CT, with family here, I will move out of state. I am so sick of this government squeezing every penny out of the middle class to accommodate the greed of multi-millionaires and billionaires. $300,000 is not a mansion. $300,000 is barely more than a 2 bedroom apartment in this state. This tax will only make it harder for families in this state.
