This is a misguided bill. Zoning is not a one size fits all issue and should be controlled by the local governments not by the state. It does not take into account the needs of the diversity of housing needed in different towns throughout the state for different types of residents.

Don’t allow the state to control our individual town zoning and impose a statewide property tax! Bad for individuals and bad for Connecticut !

we have a 1/4 mile downtown area without an apartment building. the states 8-30g is about to dump 37 apartments on either end. These builders are using the minimum on moderate not low income. big money is manipulating these bills. one company got shot down so many times they chose to go to the states 9-30g and got the giant brick(giant rectangle brick building) through. it already takes 10 minutes to get from one building site to the other when 95 is a parking lot. these buildings would add 74 cars to the downtown post rd traffic. do you do traffic studies? have these state reps that believe in these bills even looked at the effect on how this changes towns. NOW, you want to add another bill to tie the hands of the town, on their future feel and look. You ppl in Heartford have lost touch with the small town feel, that support your budgets. Tell New Haven to stop letting Yale, Ct’s welfare queen, buy entire blocks and they won’t need more money from the rest of the state! Is bridgeport full of mansions? they would be affected by this bill. The problem is you are letting ppl buy middle class properties all over town and build unsustainable mansions on those properties. This is what’s eating away at our rentals(low moderate housing) that have always made greenwich equal housing. We had strong middle class neighborhoods. My family is from town and managed to always find housing. These buildings are being built under premises they are low income housing. so, NO more bills telling towns what they can do.

I am totally against more property taxes in CT. We are drowning in financial responsibilities without the benefit of the tax breaks we got in the past from the federal government. Everything is more expensive and salaries are being cut, if you're lucky enough to have a job. Ct. is pricing the middle class out of existence. Tax the corporations and billionaires who take every opportunity to avoid paying their fair share!

SB171 hurts middle class property owners and is another tax on top of a myriad of taxes. Defeat SB171.

This proposal does not make sense and will have the reverse effect of making more people leave CT, depress real estate values and remove the freedom of towns to manage their own finances.

We have already witnessed an exodus of corporate entities in the last 5 years and now we will see individuals leaving CT, if this destructive bill is passed! I already have friends moving to FL and more will follow. Let's keep CT the gem of the East Coast.
