Oppose Statewide Property Taxes and State Control of Zoning

The state does not tax its residents any further than it does. It should impose tolls on the major roads in order to get out of state residents pay for their maintenance. That tax should come before any statewide property tax. Connecticut is a state with a firm belief in local control. Statewide zoning laws go against this long tradition

Let Towns & City’s do their OWN job. NOT Hartford ! Ever wonder why such a mass exodus of Ct. Lately? STOP destroying are State.

Thank you Mr. Arora for organizing opposition to SB171 This is another attempt from the incompetent politicians to spend their way from the fiscal crisis .

I strongly oppose and hope that Connecticut residents will be vigilant about these and other bills before the CT Legislature. These are NOT the only bills we need to be alert to. Stay in touch with your legislators, hold them accountable and make certain they speak up and represent us.

We pay enough taxes. Middle class already hurting.

Local zoning codes should not be regulated by the state. Further people have to “earn” their way to live in certain towns. The state should not mandate it.

No to state wide property tax and zoning. These are local matters and should be left to the towns and the towns people.

We already pay very high city taxes - state taxes would be a killer!

I oppose SB171 . It will drive up the housing costs of those who can least afford it. In this state , housing costs are much higher than the national average and this bill could put house ownership out of reach for many. I also oppose SB1024. Towns should have the right to set their own zoning guide lines. By the way, if this bill disallows car garages over two cars, does this mean that those who have one most eliminate the extra bay?retroactive? and where do the legislators want people to keep their lawn/ garden equipment?

We already pay some of the highest taxes in the country. Even though I'm not going to be impacted by this tax, I'm tired of seeing tax increases. It hardly encourages companies to locate in our state.

I do not know why this is called a "Mansion Tax". The homes in my neighborhood are valued at over 300,000, the majority of them are only about 2000sf or under. The lot sizes are 1/2 acre and under. These are not fancy homes or properties yet our property taxes continue to increase! I don't understand why someone would propose to increase taxes on middle class people who are already struggling in Connecticut. I do not agree with this mansion tax!!!!!!

Please change these propositions: Mansion should be more than $1,000,000+. $300K is a condo or small bungalow- not a mansion!!! Arbitrary zoning - is bad - have seen the impact in Stamford where streets converted single family homes into 2-3 family homes on 50x100 lot - very dense, high traffic. And rents (BLT, others) are still very high - not achieving affordability goals. Need better local control

This is an outrageous attempt to drive people from their homes and turn their communities which have developed organically over hundreds of years into some urban planners nightmare . Driving the people away who support the major portion of the state , south is not a long term strategy . How about attracting business and creating jobs ?
