I agree with the fact that we need to bring more people and business to the downtown, but this building is not the way to do it. Its design should keep with the feeling of the downtown, the heritage look, etc. It will look out of place and it will act just the first step in changing the beautiful downtown we currently have.

I am not opposed to increased density in the downtown core, I support it.
What is proposed seems to comply with the current architectural trend and planning rules.
Unfortunately, this building is out of place. It needs to blend in, to be an asset to our downtown. The height restriction should not be lifted in a site specific amendment if at all.

Don't put up the eyesore, downtown won't look very nice. Also there isn't much parking downtown as it is, there will be none if this goes up.

In as much as I don't disagree that Condos would be great in that location the design needs to be in keeping with the heritage of the area. They look just plain awful as they are now!

it would be a big eye soar and if you think about it. just this one big building sitting there . agree with janet no parking areas too and the business in town with suffer as well

Please don't let this monstrosity be built! It will be an eyesore and WILL RUIN mainstreet. I am completely against this project. Rebuild the hotel and maintain the outside historically, but make the inside as modern as you like. Keep the height low. We don't need a high rise apartment on Main St. We are also losing the Mill St Cheese Shop, and the other business. These shops are packed on a regular basis, why would you destroy someone's business? This is such a bad idea, and I'm shocked that it's even being considered.

There are so few historic old towns like Georgetown Main Street left in Ontario. We should be doing everything we can to preserve them. The traffic alone from this project will cause huge problems for the neighbourhood. There are lots of other more suitable locations for a project of this nature!

I am not opposed to change but the proposed structure does not fit in with the other buildings and charm of the downtown area. Also, if this is built, there will never be a place to park downtown again and the existing businesses will suffer as a result.

The very first rendition of the project I saw made me angry. I totally disagree with the modern style & glass for downtown Georgetown. It all MUST be modified.

We moved here from an over-developing city for the small town feel of Georgetown. Would be a shame for this city to follow down the same slippery slope of high rise development. The infrastructure here would be devastated.

Kill the hi rise idea altogether,it's just not in keeping with the historic downtown. It's so typical of these builders to get approval of a plan only to amend that plan for more profit more money more greed....!!

Love the fact that Georgetown has a lot of stores closed on Sunday, it is truly a old school small town feel and I love it. I think we don't need to become another "Brampton". I'm fully opposed to this change. Spend the money and refurbish the old building.
