.) We, the residents of River Crossing, River Oaks South, Lake of the Woods, Lake Forrest and the rest of Shorewood (The Residents), do hereby petition the Village of Shorewood to prevent REO Funding Solutions and the Turnstone Group (The Developers) from building homes in River Crossing Phase II that do not adequately conform to the architectural style, restrictive covenants, value, and prestige of River Crossing or the surrounding neighborhoods. We care deeply about our homes and many sought out this area due to its premier, upscale status.

.) The Developers have engaged DR Horton (The Builder), a national home builder with a track record of building poor quality subpar track homes, to submit a proposal for the redevelopment of River Crossing Phase II in Shorewood, IL. This proposal, if implemented, will have grave consequences for The Residents of this area, not the least of which is a significant decrease in the value of adjacent homes.

.) The Builders proposal consists of increasing the originally platted lot count from 80 to over 100, and building "age-targeted" 1600-1900 square foot, single family ranch homes with two car garages, no basement, and "contractor grade" materials. They have indicated it would not be a gated senior living community. These homes do not meet many of the restrictive covenants of River Crossing, and do not conform with the value, size, style, or architecture of those in neighborhoods bordering three sides of the proposed Phase II development.

.) Despite strong opposition from River Crossing residents at the HOA meeting on January 22nd, 2018 The Developers seem intent on moving forward with a plan that meets their own financial interests and little more. In a subsequent HOA meeting held on March 6th, 2018, the Developers and The Builder insulted us by presenting a nearly identical plan that does nothing to address the concerns we voiced. We continue to oppose the proposal as it was presented on March 6th and intend to defend the integrity of our neighborhoods.

.) We demand the Shorewood Planning and Zoning Commission prevent this development from proceeding unless/until The Developers and the The Builder: 1) agree to meet all existing covenants of River Crossing without modification, or 2) propose a plan fully preserving the value and prestige of River Crossing and the surrounding neighborhoods of River Oaks South, Lake of the Woods, and River Crossing.
