S.O.S. - Save Our Sunset Beach from Being Privatized!!

I grew up playing and swimming at Municipal Beach, and I want my children and grandchildren to enjoy the same access to the entire area that I had.

This sort of privatization must stop111

I went there when I was a kid , now my children go there and it would be nice to continue to be able to go there considering they have closed most public pools now.

Please keep our waterfronts public for all to enjoy. I grew up near the lake and want my kids and grandkids to have the same privilege

We only discovered this gem of a beach last summer, and are horrified to learn that any level of restricted-use is being considered, there. Aside from the obvious loss of half of the beach, the parking situation for the beach is barely adequate as it is - having OVA tournaments most weekends would exacerbate parking for users of the rest of the beach, and cause problems for residents nearby, with streets being clogged with parking. There is no reason (besides aesthetics) why the private company needs to put the courts *here*.

Many of our friends and colleagues in from Toronto call this beach the hidden little gem of the Niagara region! It did appear, at the meeting, that the city did not realize how many people currently use this beach already! I would hope that the city representatives are intelligent enough to realize that without an independent study of the area, and a proper long term assessment of parking, buildings, rare natural beauty etc., approving this proposal would be irresponsible! (especially after hearing many well thought out questions and insight from the residents North of Lakeshore)

The public needs this beautiful beach

There are already two public courts anyone is free to use at this beach. We support beach volleyball but not a club -not for profit or not- monopolizing half a beach all day every day and leaving 24 posts in the ground year round. This is a beach not a dedicated sports facility and after losing a beach to a marina it is very important to not lose another beach.

i think if someone wants to play volleyball, most beach going people come prepared with their own nets, that then can be removed leaving the beach accessible to all again.

Everyone should have access to this delightful beach. Beaches and Lakefront are precious spaces which enhance the whole city. What's the point of living by the lake if you can't get to it?

I grew up playing in the creek and on the beach. Everyone in the neighbourhood should have the same opportunities to engage with nature and the community.
