While this is a not for profit organization it does not mean that it can’t earn money which this club will certainly do and they will do it all week long every week. Leasing the beach to them on a first rights use at which point the public can use the courts if they aren’t is taking the beach away from the public for the use of a club which will profit handsomely. People so often get not for profit confused with charities. It is simply an organization of likeminded people with a common goal. Why should the goals of an organization with powerful political friends be any less important than the goals of the general public? The truth can be found at the Government of Canada website.
Business activities
Not-for-profit corporations are free to conduct the same business activities as business corporations. In other words, not-for-profit corporations can make a profit. If they do, not-for-profit corporations could have to pay regular corporate taxes under the Income Tax Act.

Please respect input from local residents and do not allow volleyball on this small beach.
I grew up in St.Catharines and beach time was a big part of life. NO PRIVATIZATION

Beaches are for children to learn, laugh and play. Do not allow this to be taken over for Volley Ball or any other sport .

One supporter of the volleyball courts commented that the residents should just go to another beach. It shows that they really don’t know anything about this beach other than it looks ripe for the taking - a classic it's 'who you know' situation. This beach is on a public bus route allowing any one to bus, bike, walk, or drive in and you will find every economic demographic both at the beach and living in the neighbourhood This is not an by any means an exclusive neighbourhood and this proposal has brought us all closer together. This is certainly not a beach just for local residents it is a beach for all. Kite surfers from Toronto were on this beach the first weekend of February. On an extremely hot Sunday last summer some people standing in the hot sun were offered lawn chairs and were asked to sit under the large shady tree on a neighbour’s lawn until the bus came. This is a great community to live in and we are welcoming. We are Port Weller and we want all of you to visit the beach but when you are gone leave nothing behind so that the next group can use the beach. Send that email to [email protected] . Vote to save this beach for ALL..
