People buy these properties because of the natural, scenic surroundings. To take that away, & force the neighbourhood to endure constant noise, parking issues, & destruction of surrounding nature is unethical, not to mention devaluing the properties. There are plenty of brown areas you can make into a sports complex. Dump a few truckloads of sand on those - make use of them!

It would be a shame to see half of this beautiful beach taken up by private volleyball courts. Beach volleyball courts can be placed anywhere. They do not need to take up a majority of one of the only remaining public beachs in the area.

This beach is part of my childhood and my child's please save the beach from becoming anything other then a wonderful free place to go in the summer for all niagara residents

We have few nice sand beaches in this area and they are not large enough to support this type of development without impeding public access. The developer should look to buy already private land along the shore and make a man made beach at their own expense.

Sunset Beach is a wonderful place and somewhere I myself enjoy going in the mornings for watching the sunset with a coffee. How can you privatize a beach?!

Ridiculous to convert this beautiful public beach for public use (think of all the families and kids playing on the beach ) into ugly beach volley ball courts for the use of the few! Is that Canadian value or not!

This is TOTALLY unacceptable. The precious public beach should be kept entirely for public use and not just one small group. How many beach volley ball players are there compared to non-players and families who enjoy the beach. Beach volley ball players can build courts anywhere indoors and out and there is no reason they need to take over half a beach on prime public lakefront property. They do NOT need to play volley ball by the water! It makes absolutely no sense. Look at the Chicago where the Lake front is developed for public enjoyment and NOT small interest groups with council connection!!!

This is the last beach in St. Catharines that has any significant beach front left for public use. Please keep something in this city free for use by people who want to be near water! We shouldn't have to drive all the way to Lake Erie to find water with some sand that all can enjoy!!! Already, this beach smells because of the Pollution plant put there. Not sure which genius decided that.

I am shocked and appalled the City is even considering this. The City of St Catharines has very few gems for citizens to enjoy - please don't take another one away. Living in Port Dalhousie, it is already choas in the summer... imagine if we take the option of Sunset (Public) Beach away? Sunset Beach is the hidden gem locals flee to when Port Dal's Lakeside Park is overrun. Part of why I chose to settle in St Catharines was the beaches and with the impending development on my doorstep in Port Dalhousie, Sunset Beach is one of the last vestiges in the city and region. Please do not privatize our waterfront and beaches.

Sunset Beach (previously called Municipal Beach) belongs to the citizens that have been paying for it with their taxes for the past 50 years or more. This beach allows the residents of Niagara the opportunity to spend time outdoors with their families without having to spend a lot of money.
