Mr Rixner is an amazing teacher who gives his time, heart, and soul to the kids at North High. I've seen Mr Rixner at work. The kids respect and love him because he has expectations of them and they rise meet those expectations. I cannot believe reducing his position to half-time is an option. We have to stop taking the arts away from our kids!

The Theatre saved my life as a stuggling gay teenager. Robin Vanderhoef my Drama teacher reached in and taught me to love and accept myself. Without the arts students will not have the ability to create. If we as a society cannot create we lose our ability to think. Please reconsider cutting this amazing program. What is happening to our children's education is frightful! The system is slowly cutting ,cutting, cutting. Some students here in DSM,don't even have math books. NO MORE CUTS.!

The reduction of Mark's position is a direct slap in the face of the students he serves, he teaches, he inspires. I have known Mark professionally and worked with him as such. He has always assisted me when I had a student in his program and I needed important information. Vuk, You have to keep him. Cut some of your chronically non winning athletic programs, if you have to cut. Trim one of the other academic programs that serves few but is costly. You have to show the community you can save money other ways. I just don't get it. The district is adding 300 positions and you are cutting this one?

This is so vital to maintaining this school's incredible mark and impact on the arts esp. theatre, and the morale, visibility and encouragement this gives to this school, its students and all schools in the Parks area!
