Not sure what the reasoning is here, but if they are cutting or reducing the drama program, this decision cannot stand.

Mr. Rixner was one of the few reasons I even went to classes when I was in school. He spent multiple hours after school to help us prepare for solo and ensemble contest, which allowed me to get multiple division one ratings even though I only did it for my senior year.
Mark Rixner deserves better than this, but beyond that you should be doing a disservice to the future of North High School if you cut the drama director to part time.

Rixner is a great theatre teacher and the reason why North shows are so spectacular. He has done a remarkable job teaching us students and offered a significant amount of his time to the theatre program.

It is always a pleasant experience to attend a North high play! Watching our community and youth get involved was amazing. Not only was it very entertaining, it's also a wonderful opportunity for the youth. The youth could take this with them throughout life, rather they want to make it a career or not. Overall its a wonderful opportuniy !

Theatre is something that i can personally say has changed my life. Without it i would be anti-social, have severe anxiety and i wouldnt have met the best people i know. I believe strongly that theatre is special, its a bonding experience, a way to vent and discover new talents. Without it we lose creativity. How can you expect to have people like david bowie or alan rickman ever again without theatre.

It would be far better to save the arts (including theatre) and get rid of the Junior ROTC program. What is this world coming too, anyway? We need a wise decision here.

As a previous student and North High Alum I am shocked to hear that they would even consider this. It's like you are punishing the Theater students and Rixner himself. I'm disappointed.

The theatre arts provide students of all backgrounds the opportunity to be part of a collaborative effort using 21st Century Skills in a way other courses are not able to provide within the confines of curriculum. Theatre teaches resiliency, putting the needs of a team over the needs of self, creative problem-solving and more. It is an outlet for expression needed for students of all learning styles, levels, risks, and needs. To cut this position in half sends the message that the skills learned in theatre are not valuable for the North High School population - a terrible precedent indeed.
He goes above and beyond for the students.
