Why the hell would you take something that great away from students who love it

To target the Arts and then the music department is very misguided! Participants learn to concentrate on what they're performing and that helps them with their other classes!

Think about the students, for God's sake.

I'm a proud '67 graduate, and NHS excelled in theater arts when I was there! Promote it, don't kill it!

Please restore Mr Rixner's position to full time to continue the theatrical excellence that North is creating. He does amazing work and gives kids an opportunity to shine in ways that help them grow.

In addition to fulfilling the fundamental need for strong fine arts programs in schools, theater programs provide a safe extracurricular outlet, often for students who struggle to fit in and find their voice.

Mr. R. was my drama teacher in middle achool and then in high school! He needs to stay full time as does the program!

We appreciate the work that he has done while my children went to North. Jesse was involved during his time there and enjoyed doing drama with Rixner.

Please do not cut this program because of the theatre department at North High School I was able to overcome shyness and become successful in business. The program gave me confidence and the ability to see that I could be independent

The program at North led by Mr. Rixner not only positively impacted my academic performance while in school, but taught me just as many valuable skills as any "academic" class- how to focus while juggling multiple responsibilities, how to study, how to connect and work with different types of people, and how to cooperate with individuals to achieve goals and complete tasks, for a few examples among many. These skills and experiences have had direct and indirect impacts on me today, both in work and personal aspects of my life. Community and culture is formed by people and programs like this, programs to be proud of. This decision by the administration is unacceptable, and I will be letting them know, and put my support behind Mr. Rixner

The arts are a necessary mode of expression for many students, this should not be demoted or ignored.

I have been very impressed with the productions I have seen at NHS. The students need to have options rather than academics! In life beyond high school, the arts give us joy and offer us and expression which is greatly needed in today's world.

He has helped me get comfortable with being on stage and holds many opportunities. It'll be sad to see someone go that is helping me with my future.

As a North High Alum and friend of many theater students over the years all I can say is this is a great program and should under no conditions be cut. The arts are just as important as STEM both as a creative outlet for those in STEM and for a field of passion and joy for all the non-STEM students.
