Under the direction of Rixner, I participated in The Mousetrap, Little Shop of Horrors, A Christmas Story, Romeo and Juliet, and numerous individual and group speech contests! None of which I could have done without him!!!! He has touched the lives of more students than I can count and has put his blood, sweat, and tears into North High Drama! His position should not be cut in half and will not be done so without a fight!

This school.has people who are sincerely invested in their theatre class, an their plays are sublime, you can't take it from them

Theatre is important for students. It's a way to grow people skills and a way to express themselves without being judged. Taking away theatre from students will only make them less outgoing.

I was never in drama at North, but mannnnnnnny of my friends were involved. The passion Mr. Rixner puts into everything at the school, from drama to announcing at the basketball games. His energy is electric to the school and the area. This program is as essential to the school as football or basketball, where students are continuously winning at competitions and on the stage making money for the school.

This is my first year at North and I have been in play production and in a show with rixner , he personally has impacted me and is one of my favorite teachers . He always pushes my peers and I to work harder and to see him go would break my heart .

Drama is an amazing way to meet new people and learn about yourself! I've met some of the most amazing people there and have learn more than just how to make a background and props, but also how to work as a team and adapt to one another.

Two of my children attended NHS and also in drama through out 4 years of high school. They had the most advanced education in theater as Mr. Rixner for their teacher. Please continue this program and education for upcoming amazing talent.

I'm a Des Moines resident and was highly formed by theater as a part of my secondary education in another Iowa district. Keep Mr. Rixner's position full-time. North High's co- and extra-curricular arts and athletics programs have been critical to it resurgence in recent years. Maintain current funding for this position and all positions in the fine arts.

Let's keep the theaters and keep our kids interested wouldn't we rather have them doing theater then out getting in trouble, it's a positive atmosphere you make friends and kids come together and it makes them feel self accomplishment so please reconsider let's keep theater at North High.

I had Mark Rixner as a drama and journalism teacher at Goodrell before he went to North. What a great teacher, and what a great job he has done with the theater department at North!
