Mr. Rixner is wonderful and y'all probably aren't paying him enough.

I was a student of Mark Rixner's 2001,2006, and 2007. The arts are extremely important. I believe that having those electives keeps students engaged in their academics outside the home. I would highly suggest keeping that curriculum.

The Arts are a very important part of who I am today. I am the speaker I am today because of NHS Drama class and the Plays that I was apart of.

The arts are so very important in each child's daily life, but sports run the world. Art is for everyone and theater is a beautiful expression of this.

I don't even go to your school, I go to urbandale high school. But I'm in love with theater and nobody should have theater taken away from them, even if they don't like it.

Please reconsider cutting the theater arts program at North.

Theater is incredibly important for a school community. It is the key that enables some young people to be successful in any aspect of school. It is for some, a first experience with this art form whether as a performer, artist or spectator. If a drama teacher is employed in any other high school, it is only just and equitable to high one and continue to offer a program at North.

Why are the Arts always the programs that get cut first?? Never seem to have a problems with sports. Mr. Rixner has done an absolutely amazing job, along with the students, and it would be a big mistake to lose him. Along with Mr. Buckner, an art teacher. Without these fine programs and instructors, where will our youth be???

All throughout highschool i was proud to be in drama class. Growing up a shy quiet girl theatre arts helped me build so much self esteem as i became more social. I became very passionate about this study and im sure MANY others students are as well.

My daughter performed in a play and great niece did lighting when they attended high school. Please keep theater at NHS because it helps the students in many ways and is fun for the community to come and watch what a great job the students do in the performances.

Hi, I actually don't go to North High School, but I go to Waukee. Over here, the theater program is one of the most beloved activitities for the students. I don't know what they would do (or even know who they are) if theater wasn't really an option for an extracurricular activity. Just like sports and/or education, these kids devote a majority of their time to do what they enjoy, and if it's taken away, how can their happiness be fulfilled? What would motivate them to do their best everyday just so they can rehearse, prepare, and have a great hell of a show? These kids need to showcase their work to an audience, including their parents, friends, and anyone who might not know them. Who else can guide them other than Mark, who has the experience and effort to help these kids? Like I mentioned about sports before, there can't be a really good team without a coach. And the coach for the theater program is Mark, who be such a loss and the future for the theater program would not reach the peak without him. All the kids would appreciate it if he stayed, and if he didn't, what would they do? They would be very sad. And I don't think you want a lot of very sad children in one building.

Keep it alive and allow our youth the opportunity to discover their talents and creativity as well as becoming educated in the arts!

The arts are such a valuable asset to schools such as North. As a current student of VHS North has my full support, do not take away such a great opportunity for students of North High School.

I loved Peter Pan 2015 and í know that couldn't have been done by part time staff. My nephew at Harding participated and he was bit by the theater bug. For a shy boy it was challenging and it changed his confidence level. Theater is more than just fun. The benefits can't be measured!
