Being a part of this program myself 10 years ago I know how much time and devotion Mr. Rixner puts into his students. I learned a lot not just from drama but my speech improved and I learned a ton in prop production. He doesn't just teach theatre but the whole 9 yards that go along side it.

High school programs (art, music, theater/speech, AND athletics) are what keep our kids out of trouble and developing their skills, creativity, and critical thinking. It is a way for them to positively express their emotions and grow. Study after study highlights how the arts contribute to STEM fields, let's give our DSM students what they deserve, keep the arts at NHS!

The arts are vital to North High and all neighboring schools. It is important that all the arts opportunities remain as options for the current and upcoming students. Some of the best leadership, teamwork and discipline come from these activities. The arts need to be a priority to the board.

My experience in drama class I took from Mr. John Thompson in 1965 gave speaking skills that Have used through out my life. It was an opportunity for creative expression that no other class afforded me.

Drama and other art programs are essential to our children becoming happy well-rounded adults that do not end up with a chemical dependency out of boredom and lack of a healthy outlet for negative and/or destructive emotions.

The theater department at North made a huge influence on my life for all four years of high school and to deem it "excessive" is ludicrous because of everything that it provides to the students and community.

Save Norths Arts!! I spent a lot of time on tamest stage. It would be a damn shame to see it do away. Cut footballs budget.
