TO: His Excellency Anthony Carmona, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and the Government of Trinidad and Tobago

The Chaguaramas Development Authority

Whereas the Chaguaramas Peninsula contains areas of natural beauty, sensitive land and marine ecosystems such as the wetlands and forests, prime real estate, valuable State assets such as the Chaguaramas Hotel and Convention Centre and coastline, and locations of historical value,

And Whereas the Chaguaramas Peninsula is part of the national patrimony of the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago,

We the undersigned citizens call upon the government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to immediately desist from:

1. Any activities that undermine or damage the natural beauty, historical value or ecosystems in the Chaguaramas Peninsula, and

2. Selling or leasing the lands and/or State assets at Chaguaramas to private interests below the true worth and value of these lands and assets.

We condemn any activities to the contrary and we further call upon the government to halt any contracts or other agreements entered into that contravene the above.

Respectfully signed,
