I understand how vital this is to my fellow union members. Please step up and find a way to save the 802 Health Plan...

Please don’t allow this to happen. Haven’t we had enough losing salaries to support the families. Please find a way to save insurance!

While I am fortunate enough to have health coverage through my employer, for now, so many of my colleagues at 802 do not. It is unthinkable that our brothers and sisters could go without at a time when they have no income. There are creative solutions being proposed. Local 802 must find a solution to this problem ASAP.

This crisis is unprecedented. Let’s all seek a solution! It will not be easy, but our profession can only be saved by all of us. Stay well everyone. Tom O

Without attractive benefits for membership, there may be less incentive to be a part of the union. However, if universal health care is realized by the government, after the next election, perhaps the point will be moot...

It is clear that the 802 HBP will ultimately dissolve by 2/28/21. Furthermore, we are unlikely to receive any sustaining help for this Fund from Congress based on the current political situation. Therefore, I do not understand why there has been no concerted effort on behalf of ALL the locals within the AFM community to join forces to create one national healthcare plan. I believe that given the numbers of potential participants this is the only way towards long term survival. In fact, given the lack of work dues for any local for the foreseeable future, why aren’t we discussing one national local? Sincerely, Ed Joffe

We need to hear from our elected union officials about what can be done to assure the continuity of the plan for it's member-users. If there is nothing the union can do, then what options members have to get insurance elsewhere must be made clear, including the deadlines by which any such available actions must be taken.

To have healthcare predicated on being fully employed at all times is an idea whose time has passed. In an country as wealthy as our, that claims to be the beacon of civilization, we have the resources and intelligence to figure out a way to make sure every American has healthcare. The notion that we don’t have the money is a canard, we have the money, what we don’t have is the will to get it done! This is partly because those making these legislative decisions don’t have to worry about their own healthcare and the very for profit industries that may be effected by universal care, contribute large sums to assure a more just system isn’t put into place. So hear we are, through no fault of our own in jeopardy or losing our healthcare simply because a virus presents us from working. If you can send billions to industries who has made record setting profits over the last decade, please help those of us who have healthcare and need assistance to get through the next year or two. That’s not too much to ask!!

Please save the plan! We may not be considered as "essential" workers, but the plan is essential to to 802 musicians. Thank you

It is crucial that our Union Members are allowed to keep their Health Benefits during this time of pandemic and complete loss is work.

The union needs to find a way to keep members from falling off the plan. There will be very little employer contributions for the foreseeable future and creative solutions need to be found to keep people on the plan.
