Please live up to the promise when the referendum was highlighting the needs for higher taxes. It often takes two incomes to live in this area and the partnership with the school is critical.

I am 18 years old and I am a senior at Lake Park High school. I attended full day kindergarten at Spring Hills Elementary school and I feel that it set the best foundation possible to prepare me for elementary school. I had a teacher whom made a huge impact in my life with my family and my education. It was sad to see full day kindergarten go a few years ago and I feel it would not be regretted if it were to be brought back into district 12. So many successful and smart students have come out of district 12 and that all starts with a strong kindergarten program in which we have and for it to continue to be a half day program would hinder kids of the full capability of the program to help guide them into their futures at district 12 and lake park high school. It is bad enough that our district doesn’t offer a fogein language program therefore i hope that this delay in reinstalling full day kindergarten comes to
an end very soon.

Both of my children attended full day kindergarten at Spring Hills School back when we were one of the only school in the area that offered it which was one reason why we chose to buy a house in Roselle. Now we are one of the only districts that doesn't offer it! Bringing back full day kindergarten will help jump start children's education and better prepare them for elementary school and attract young families to Roselle.

As an educator in Schaumburg School District 54 for the past 25 years, I see the real academic, social, and behavioral benefits of full day kindergarten. We implemented full day kindergarten 3 years ago in all our elementary schools throughout District 54. We are seeing increased learning and test scores for the 1st and 2nd graders who had the benefit of full day kindergarten.; not to mention the social advances that they have made as well. Why is District 12 moving backwards? Don't we want our children to compete with thir local peers? Our 2 children are almost out of college, and I can say that full day kindergarten at Spring Hills School help to lay a strong foundation for further learning. I am thankful that my children benefitted from this school day structure.

I do not like the exact wording of this petition!!! I think it’s up to the d12 board we elected to decide what we can afford., My signature means I hope that our leaders can find a way to make it fit in the budget without having to sacrifice something even more important. I think ADK is beneficial to kids and families and it would boost our property values.

Please read carefully what the district is trying to explain to us.
Office referral
14-15: 22% of school referrals
15-16: 30$ of school referrals
16-17: 7% of school referrals
17-18: 8% of school referrals
Half day kindergarten goes to school 1/3 of the time of full day. So should we multiply 7 by 3 to get 21? Would the kids in full day not gone to the office? They can tell this from the numbers? The children that went to the office, had they gone to pre-school?
And why do they switch between comparing us to the nation and then back to local? Do their numbers only benefit them by doing this?
And why is that other school districts are stating the benefits for full day kindergarten?
And more importantly, my child is not a number. Each child is different. My child is in preschool. To go to a half day kindergarten would not be of any benefit. She will be stagnant for a school year. This is more hurtful in my opinion.
Remember, when they stated that it was unwise to offer a full day kindergarten that is tuition based while they are offering half day. Well, it appears that by 105ILCS 5/10-22.18, the school is mandated to offer half day while they are offering full day. I am not a lawyer and I hope I am reading this code correctly. Twisting the words to their benefit. And also, for the parents that do not want full day you can still have half day.
And by this same Illinois code, the district must offer full day kindergarten if a petition of 50 parents request full day kindergarten. The only way out for the district is to state that they do not have the funds. And I would like to hear the district state this after I voted yes for the referendum and I did not vote for the superintendent to get a raise.
