During school conferences a 1st grade teacher wants it back! All of the kids coming back into the district (after going out of district for full day K) are coming in & the teachers know nothing about them or how they were taught! It’s a disadvantage for all!!!!!

I was one of the lucky ones- my kids were all full day kindergarten. I feel like it necessary to prepare these kids for the learning they will be doing in 1st grade. my youngest was the last class to get full day K and I breathed a sigh of relief. Signing for the others who weren't so lucky.

I appreciate the efforts of all who went door to door citing correct information, but I was also under the impression that full day Kindergarten was coming back. I don't seem to be alone in that belief, so it seems this wasn't relayed to the voter base clearly.

Kindergartners in Roselle are getting half the education they should. Whether it was part of the referendum or not, full day kindergarten needs to come back. We moved here specifically because they had full day here and they took it away the very year we needed it. Luckily, we had the means to send our child to private school, and while it was a great experience, that’s $6000 that we did not plan to spend, thanks to the decisions of D12. The only reason I voted for the referendum is because I knew we’d go back to public school eventually. Without full day kindergarten, the district will lose higher income families to private school and lose the financial support of those families moving forward (ie: I wouldn’t have voted for the referendum if we were staying in private school).

I saw a huge difference in what my son learned and experienced in full day SHS kindergarten and what my daughter did in half day. The kids need and deserve to have full day kindergarten just like the surrounding elementary schools. Funding for full day was promised when we signed the referendum.

As a member of this community, who worked tirelessly and VERY closely with the referendum - the referendum was specifically intended for building facilities and maintenance. As we went door to door, for 6, consecutive weeks to talk to members of the community - we did not, ever - site the immediate return of full-day kindergarten, but rather to take care of ailing heaters, plumbing and other building maintenance - in addition to improving curriculum - across the district - all of which are being addressed.

As parent of 2 who will attend Spring Hill Elementary, as well as being an educator myself, I strongly believe full day kindergarten is in the best interests of students and parents, for more time in school to build academic, social, kinesthetic, and play skills without rushing through the day. Half day kindergarten puts our students at a disadvantage going into first grade, and the extra half day will help those students who need more individual attention, interventions, repetition of concepts, etc. so please invest in our students by providing them the best start they can have to their public school experience in Roselle school district: full day kindergarten!
