Federation of Students has changed their policies regarding the booking of the 3rd floor SLC prayer room. As of this year, clubs are no longer able to book this space. As members of a club that has used this space on a daily basis for many years, we are deeply saddened by this news, and our club will be greatly affected by it, as will others. The Student Life Centre was an ideal place for WISA’s daily ceremonies as it was central to all club members who attended, and is more accessible than other options. It was for this reason that we have continued to congregate at this location for so many years. The assurance that that this room will be available for us every day was essential to our club, as graduate, current, and even future students all recognize this room as our daily prayer space. We are also aware that other religious clubs have been affected by this policy as well. On behalf of our club and others, we would like to request that this policy be lifted.
