The goal of this petition is to document support from local residents and businesses in the Millcreek area and Salt Lake County. Currently there are no skate/bike parks or pump tracks in Millcreek. The proposed location for these projects are in the existing Tanner Park on Heritage Way.

Skate/bike Park and Pump Track Community ROI:

  • New local gathering place for families and communities in Millcreek.
  • Promotes a healthy lifestyle with outdoor-physical activity rather than “screen time”.
  • Increased revenue for local skateboard and bike shops in the area.
  • Provides a safer alternative to skating and biking on roads and in parking lots.
  • Activities at these sites promote fun, increase happiness and contribute to a better quality of life for all.

Updates

November 18, 2015

The response to this proposal confirms that the demand for a local pump track is significant. I have requested a meeting with the Millcreek parks department to present these findings and discuss potential site layouts at Tanner Park.

Tanner Park is a perfect location for a multi discipline concrete park and other activity structures. Let's do this !!

If you give kids a place to skate, they'll just do it somewhere else! I've skated in a place without a skate park, you just get the cops called on you and get kicked out. It's really not far, you make basketball courts, football fields and baseball fields! Sorry to disappoint, but skateboard, biking and rollerblading are sports too

Recreational areas like skate parks, pump tracks, and splash pads are important to the health of our community. This gives members of the community opportunities to challenge themselves and have fun. Places like these have a much greater impact on a person's happiness, in contrast to video games and watching tv.
