SAVE WOODS AND WETLAND IN TONKA BAY

Can we not preserve what little is left of our wild spaces? This area is a respite not only for us , but for the animals and birds whose habitat is slowly but surely disappearing. I do not understand why the council cannot seem to understand how important this is. They seem to do whatever they want, no matter how much input they get from residents.

Filling in wetlands and cutting old growth forest is not a solution.

WSB should be held responsible for any and all expenses related to moving this soil No doubt there contract should be terminated

Stop destroying the wetlands and forest that improve our air and water quality.

Saving and preserving our natural ecosystem is not only important for our current community but critical to the future that we leave our children with

Please do not put the mistake soil into the woods in this natural area. This location is not meant for that.

Those woods are the home of many owls, don’t take their habitat away!

Please save our woods and natural areas that make our neighborhoods unique and the amazing area they are. This feels like a “as long as it’s not in my backyard” decision not giving consideration for the neighborhoods who live near these natural areas that enjoy their presence.

We live next to these areas, and would be devastated to see these proposed changes!

Many use this space as a connection to the trail and also as a place to escape and walk 'through the woods'. With so many of our green spaces being taken up by homes, please keep what we have left. They add beauty and value to our community. They are also important for our wildlife. I am not trusting that the city will manage this part of the project well given the complete mismanagement and under communication thus far.

It is not the resident’s responsibility to suffer for the mismanagement and improper planning on behalf of the contractor

This proposal is against state law. It will destroy undeveloped wetlands and cause adjacent homes and businesses irreplaceable harm.

This whole project has been a problem, don't make it worse!!

Please keep exploring other options. Since this would have been avoided by WSB following the correct actions at the beginning of the project, it should not cause stress and anxiety in our neighborhood. WSB did something illegal and should bare the full physical and financial burden. Funds should NOT come out of the construction costs that have been saved so far by doing illegal actions.

I don’t believe all the soil is original to the ground it was taken from. Tonka Bay put in sewer and water many years ago and wondering if they didn’t need to remove and bring in soil. I’m wondering if anyone is still around that could speak on the construction of our water and sewer when it was originally put in. Just my 2 cents.

I'm a Shorewood resident directly across the wetland from the woods. About 20 years ago, to save the wetland from imminent development , this Shorewood neighborhood purchased 10 acres of wetland and woods on the west side and donated the property, with a strict conservation easement, to the city. It's disheartening to see that Tonka Bay now seems ready to do what misguided Shorewood politicians were willing to do years ago, destroy more green space and apparently due to the extremely poor planning and oversight by an outside engineering consulting outfit. The plan is unacceptable and destructive. Please reconsider.

This invasion of our forests & woodlands must stop. That property is supposed to be protected but the City Council does not put through the paperwork. That is criminal. I think we should get rid of the current counsel & elect ppl that actually care about the Shorewood people. This is probably enriching one of the counsel’s buddies or relations to do the work. Just like the 6 million $ consultations fee for the useless work that was done “for 3 YRS’ on the trail between Smithtown & Strawberry Ln.
