WSB should hold responsibility for this issue. Destroying another forest area in Tonka Bay for an oversight is not a solution. We just lost a large area near Hazelwood for townhomes. City should be protecting our open spaces.

The trees and wildlife that inhabit them are what set us apart from other areas. It takes hundreds of years for beautiful trees to grow. Preservation should be first priority as opposed to calling destruction any kind of progress or solution.

Poor planning led to the soil problem. We cannot allow poor decisions by the same engineers to destroy the woods and wetland areas. Please stop! At least pretend like you care about this community and start making decisions as though you live here!

Save the woods! How would they prevent kids on E-bikes from turning the park into a BMX track? Perhaps the Landscape Arboretum would take the soil and turn it into a lovely garden.

Destruction of the woods and wetlands in question will only further displace wildlife that lives in and relies on those resources. Deer, ducks, owls, hawks, fox, coyotes, raccoons, opossums, weasels, turkey, and more. Those woods and wetlands need to be maintained, not destroyed.

This is my neighborhood and my daily walk through these beautiful woods. Furthermore, I am of Native American descent (25%) and I wholeheartedly object and would even take legal action against this horrific plan.

I walk to this wooded area daily for peace and to watch wildlife. I signed the petition to keep it from becoming a holding pond, and once again am pleading that this area be kept natural. Many deer, squirrels and birds call this area home, and many humans find peace there daily. I understand if there is a need to move the soil that was incorrectly removed, but do not put it in the only natural area left that we have in our neighborhood.

Please stop destroying our protected wetlands and the natural habitats surrounding our neighborhoods for road projects. These over engineered projects by outside firms don’t care about our community or what their multimillion $$ “solutions” do to them. Look at the bigger picture!! Find another way!!

There is no solution to the problem in the petition. This makes the petition worthless. The council needs to put the sacred soil someplace. Should we create an island with it, perhaps enhance the island in the Tonka Bay Lagoon? Is anyone donating their property to dump the Indian dirt on it? Should we dump the dirt at Manitou park and turn the entire Manitou Park and Tonka Bay Woods and Wetland parcels into an archery deer hunting area to control the deer population? What are everyone's solutions?

That is a completely unacceptable use for this beautiful woodland lot. Soil storage will be an eye sore to the community and you may displace animals living in this portion of the woods. Let it alone.

Nothing is more valuable than having nature. It is vital to the environment, wildlife, and the people who live here. The more this community gets built up, the less I want to live here. This will soon look like Burnsville and be just as ugly. Stop clearing lots and building things we don’t need!
