SAVE WOODS AND WETLAND IN TONKA BAY

we live right on Wedgewood Dr and just heard about this. This is a disgusting project the amount of wild life that live around us they are going to destroy so many homes for animals. THIS NEEDS TO STOP.

We've had enough destruction of natural habitat. We're losing wildlife daily.

The residents of Tonka Bay deserve transparency on this environmentally impactful dilemma.

Why does Tonka Bay have to hurt the ecosystem like this, it’s very inhumane.

Wetlands are important and shouldn't be filled in with dirt. This could have unintended consequences with drainage elsewhere.

The mismanagement of this project by the WSB Engineering and any other contractors does NOT constitute impacting the ecosystem of the woods and wetlands around Pleasant Avenue, Lila Lane and Wedgewood Drive. There has got to be another solution, not just the "easiest" solution.

If the soil mounds are spaced 20 feet apart, you would need about 1.62 acres of land to distribute the 5,000 cubic yards of soil in conical piles that are 8-10 feet tall. 11 acres toal with 6 acres of wetland leaves 5 acres and yet the council states still options for building as well as the Indian mounds? 500 dump trucks down Lilah Lane - How is that feasible.

Please save the woods, as is. Thank you!

Perhaps the sacred dirt mounds could be respectfully placed in the City of Mound since afterall it's their name, The residents and businesses of Mound would have opportunities to welcome and embrace tourists visiting the Mound Mounds.

Dear People of Tonka Bay, I am a whitetail deer and on behalf of all my deer friends and family, I am begging you to please preserve our home. We have quietly co-existed with you humans for generations while losing more and more of our native forests. Please don't destroy any more of our home. Our deer grand babies are our future and trust you humans to make the right decisions.

This area is home to abundant wildlife and is enjoyed by many neighbors and nearby residents. It is an asset to Tonka Bay, and Shorewood... what a tragedy to even consider the destruction of this area.

Please save these woods & wetlands- they’re a beautiful attribute to the community.

WSB's negligence and incompetence in failing to follow basic guidelines for Minnesota municipal projects like this should not result in the destruction of an old growth woods. The very idea is outrageous. The City of Tonka Bay should be vigilant guardians of its citizens tax dollars and community resources like the woods across from Wedgewood Forest. Please work on finding a solution that works for all stakeholders. This is possible with thoughtful leadership and community engagement, which is what all citizens expect of and deserve from their elected officials.

I am very conflicted on this issue as I understand the importance of preserving the tribal soil and bringing it to a final resting ground. However, the mismanagement of the construction that led to this issue, and the lack of transparency from city council leads me to believe this is not the correct course of action. They know it’s not the right place, but it’s an “easy” place because it’s on the edge of town with a lower population of Tonka Bay residents and they just want the problem gone. They also seem to have no regard for Shorewood residents who also back up to and use this site, but have had even less input. The residents, the wildlife, and the environment shouldn’t suffer because of poor planning. Based on past management, I do not believe this will be handled respectfully by the city or the construction crews; in this instance or when soil from future projects have to be relocated here. The land will never be the same and I don’t think the tribal ancestors would appreciate that. There are plenty of other mound burial sites and I do not understand why the soil cannot be placed in a less controversial area where other remains are already laid to rest. Additionally, why has MIAC not been more involved in communication with the residents? If we heard directly from them, maybe we’d have a different perspective and be more understanding. But instead city council tried to sneak this by, which only makes us more against the decision. At the last city council meeting Mayor Jennings said he heard just as many complaints from residents who live by city hall to move the soil, as those at Pleasant/Lilah who don’t want it in our neighborhood. But everyone knows city hall is a temporary holding place and the residents by city hall won’t have to physically and emotionally live with the finality of this decision. I have been in the Civil road construction business for 45 plus years and have never seen a worse mismanaged city construction project in all my years of construction! Everything about this excess fill going to this location is wrong! Birch Bluff Rd project has not been sub-cut yet so what are there plans for this excess fill? Does this add to the 5k-CY? Tonka Bay has made to many bad decisions on this project and the biggest one is hiring WSB. Tonka Bay Hired WSB for the engineering on this projects and WSB has failed the City of To Tonka Bay. I am very opposed to this awful plan of Dumping this fill at this location!

Tonka Bay resident with a family that is a regular user/explorer of these woods. Im afraid of what this plan would do to our quiet neighborhood and this wooded space that we enjoy so much
