Residents against the Kenilworth Nurseries Development

Main reason, London road is currently a very busy road and is a main route for 2 primary schools, it's already a nightmare to get out of our road let alone with more traffic, people will use side roads as trying to make shortcuts and speeding up the morning commute and this will run past the schools, and cause havoc and danger. This is also conservation area I live local and often see lots of wildlife, one of reasons we bought our house in this area, it will be a shame to ruin such a beautiful part of Retford that more than the locals enjoy.

The size and location of the proposed development are highly problematic. It's too big; the local area does not have the infrastructure to support it; Bracken Lane School is already full, and further road use will result as children are ferried to school. Access to and from the site onto London Road is likely to cause problems. Safety is a major concern. With the exit of the estate on the side of the railway bridge, drivers, both on the main road and leaving the estate would have only restricted vision. The proposed development is located in one of Bassetlaw's conversation areas on which the Council's guide was updated as recently as two years ago. Here, in Appendix C, it states, specifically with respect to developments on Kenilworth Nursery site, that: • Views of Grove Park from London Road should not be detrimentally harmed; • No harm should be caused to the setting and amenity of London Road; • The layout should seek to reflect the historic character of the conservation area; and • The mass, form, detailing and materials of any new structures should either complement the positive historic built forms within the character area, or through innovative design, create unique modern structures. It adds that the Council is unlikely to support proposals that fail to address these issues. I hope this will be the case.

The exit from the Kenilwoth Nurseries onto the main road is obscured by a high rail bridge which is very dangerous

Please consider this petition. Our green spaces need preserving. We surely have enough homes and developments locally to meet social and economic needs. This beautiful area of Retford should remain as such.

The proposed building work will cause real danger on London Road.

Totally against this development for all the reasons already given. Its not part of any plan and will put significant pressure on the infrastructure.

This is a speculative planning application that if passed will be the fore runner of an even bigger application of hundreds of houses. This would change the nature and character of this part of Retford. Its a conservation area for goodness sake. Council - Just say no!

This sight is totallly unsuitable it is a great haven for wildlife and the access on to London road will be chaos just like it already is at other junctions but the closeness to the bridge makes it also dangerous

Unsafe access and too much increase of traffic on London Road

The area cannot cope with any more strain on our already over stretched public highways, drainage systems, schools and all other public services.

This development would make our area more vulnerable to flooding, brings back bad memories of 2007 !!

The unsafe access, lack of amenities and unaddressed drainage problems make this a totally unsuitable site for such a development.

The proposed development will wipe off the map a significant area of the Retford South Conservation area ,resulting in a loss forever for Retford Town and its residents.

There is no justification for the conservation area to be built on. London Road is a busy entrance to the small market town of Retford and cannot sustain further traffic without detriment to the environment and danger to residents and road users.

I am totally opposed to this planning application, when are the council going to listen to the residents who will have to pick up the pieces if this development is allowed to go ahead. The access is totally unsuitable for this huge development it is hard enough to get on London Road when you have an unobstructed view of on coming traffic. How can there be no traffic issues with development when it has only one narrow restricted access? Flooding is already a problem in this area of town this development will only increase known and existing problems. There are no school places for this development Bracken Lane School is full. A new development of 40 houses has already started in the catchment area. Please find somewhere more suitable to build these houses. Too often the council allow developments and it is the local residents who have their lives blighted and deal with the consequences for example Albert Road and the Harron Homes development next to the Leisure Centre!

This location is totally unsuitable for a development of this size. I have lived in the area for over 30 years and am very aware of problems with traffic, flooding and access to the local schools which are already overfull. Other parts of Retford have already been identified as suitable for development and the council should be focusing on building there.

A conservation area, access to the road near a blind spot, past flooding problems around this area, full schools. The list could go on

If the homes are built on a conservation area, it will increase the risk of flooding. There is no provision or planning to accommodate the increased demands of traffic, school places, healthcare and other social needs. We do not support such unplanned development.

Too much traffic on this road already, gridlocked at certain times,even more chaos caused when the A1 has a problem, which is quite often. Just not a suitable site for such a large development

As listed in the petition, there is no real benefit and many cons to this idea. Would be a bad idea
