Any elected official should know better then to express his personal opinion about a SCOTUS ruling on his official Facebook page. The commissioner is entitled to his opinion but he chose a poor place to express it as well as showed poor judgment in his engagement with SD voters who disagreed with his comments. There is no room in our friendly state for officials who use their position to discriminate against others.

This is offensive and the fact that he posted this on his official County Commissioner Facebook page makes it worse. If nothing is done about this, you're sending the message, loud and clear that what Mr. Aker has to say in his post is a position the State of South Dakota shares with him... that is despicable and wrong!

For a public official to actively undermine the authority of the Supreme Court (and by extension the Constitution) should not be tolerated.

In 30 years his grandchildren will be embarrassed trying to publicly apologize for his outlook on marriage equality.

Elected officials must be held to a higher standard. Clearly inappropriate and not something we should stand for in our state.

I went to school in this state and quite enjoyed it, but I do not enjoy hate and disdain for your citizens as shown by this man and many other politicians.

Ignoring the actions of this official is as despicable as the actions themselves. Remove this man from office, and make my home state a place I can be proud of again.

Mr. Aker was elected to perform a public service and part of his pledge was to follow law of the land. That does NOT include spouting off personal ideologies on a social media page that is not a private citizen account.
