I think messing with a name that has been there for over 40 years is way-out-of-line. I am a 1964 grad and I think all the foolishness should stop now.

I am a proud Rebel, I graduated Byrnes in 1984 and removing our Rebel name and mascot is ignorant! It this happens its saying NAACP is right and caving to racist bullcrap! There is nothing racist about Byrnes Rebels so lets defend our heritage of the Byrnes High Rebels and say leave us alone, go pick on something else! And also say stop the ignorance of the NAACP!! You can not erase history! It happened you either learn and grow from it or are doomed to repeat it! I am an Afghanistan and Iraq Veteran, no matter what side of a war you stand on Honor those who were Brave enough to stand up and FIGHT WHEN OTHERS WOULD NOT. The word Rebel in no way is only tide to the War of Northern Aggression. Our founding fathers were Rebels who would have been tried for Treason and Hanged had we not won the Revolutionary War! Lets stop being stupid people!

Please don't change the name. It is the attitude of a lot of people that needs to be changed...not a symbol or a name, or a mascot.

A name synonymous with 60 years of education needs not to change. Those that have not received this education, do.

It is not a battle flag associated with hate. It is a rebel. It may have been a bad time in our history but it is our history and changing names, removing flags or monuments will not change that. It did, however, bring us to where we are today.

Save the Rebels. It is a sacred community. Everyone helps each other.
