This is really ridiculous, I actually go the Spartanburg HS, but when I saw this I couldn't believe it. Some people are just out to find something innocent and make it look offensive. To the Rebels I've always respected, KEEP THE NAME!

Graduated from here. Proud of this school. Had black students graduate same time I did. And many more since then. Never heard complaints from them. Marcus Lattimore, a great football player, graduated from here and went on to USC and NFL. It will be a disgrace to change this great school's name now and lose our national recognition.

Not sure how "rebel" became a racist term. Maybe the NAACP need to pick up a dictionary and find its true meaning. Rebel: to resist or defy authority. Yup I see how that's taken as racist! What a joke!

I'm from gaffney sc but this is one of the craziest things I've ever heard. Good luck and hope you all don't have to change your name.

This stupid stuff has got to stop some where. They took the flag down. Let them be happy with that. No need to rename every school, road, and destroy monuments at the tax payers expense.

This has really gone too far. Our kids have no problem with the school mascot, nor do we. We have rights as well.

Please do not allow the Rebel name that has always been associated with pride, to be taken from our school, the staff, our community, the students and former students!
