This is getting ridiculous!! Instead of deciding what to do about the flag in Columbia, they should've put it to a citizen vote. Bet it would've turned out a lot different!!

I went to riverside where they had to change our warrior mascot. Couldn't find one person who was offended. This decision is just silly. Much like renaming Tillman hall at Clemson. That means soooo many things need to be renamed.

The name rebels is not racist, it means freedom. Our founding fathers were once rebels fighting against the British government. Since they won they are considered patriots. We should keep the name rebels for them. For our freedom.

I attended Blacksburg High, but changing the name of this school's mascot is a ludacris idea!!!

What does the NAACP do...go around looking for things to attack? Give it a break and leave the kids and their mascot alone. It's already been changed once...from a soldier to a sword. So what, you want to take the name Rebels now. You should find something productive to spend your time and money on.

My kids both graduated from Byrnes. Proud ROTC and Rebel Regiment Dad.

JFByrnes switched their associated artwork from a rebel soldier to a sword several decades ago - they have achieved national recognition as the Rebels and the Rebel Regiment, this is a non-issue.

They changed us from a soldier to a sword. Now they wanna change it all together. No way. Students from years were not offended. So what gives them the right to change it. They weren't all students of our school. Leave it alone. We are proud to be James F Byrnes Rebels!!!

I was a student the first year black students attended. We got along fine then. Don't undo all the good that has been done over the years. Stand for whats right and keep the "Rebels" name. Changing it would do much more harm than good.
