The NAACP, needs to stop bothering people, it has n't offended them for the 50 years that the name has been around. They just want want something else to get their nasty hands in.

it is unfortunate that NAACP has nothing better to do than come up with silly stuff. My whole family has gone to Byrnes and the name REBEL has nothing to do with what has happened the last 3 weeks.

There is no reason to change the Rebels name! We have already been made to change it before and all of us can make sure that it doesn't happen again!!! I went there and all my children and friends and family, so lets stop it from all the racism and be united for everyone's benefit!!! Lets remember our children and what this means to them!!

Why is being a Rebel a bad thing? Does the NAACP not acknowledge the FREE black men who fought for the confederacy? Racism isn't in a mascot or a flag it's within mankind. By attacking objects and labeling them racist we are only fueling the hate and causing more anger.

I graduated from Byrnes in 1977. As an alumni, I strongly oppose ANY change to the school name, or the mascot. We MUST take a stand, or the NAACP requests will never stop. Don't give an inch!!

Saddest thing I have ever heard. NAACP is just looking to attack anything and everything, they call us racist but i think they need to look in the mirror when saying that. It's sad they have nothing better to do then pick on a unified school of all kinds of different races, just BC of a name that THEY have made an issue of - NO one else seems to have the problem but THEM- they have let power and greed go to their head and have forgotten why they formed to begin with- to bring people together not part (or maybe that's what they really do what)

Not racism both colors go to that school and have for several years. The sport teams are mixed. The kids are good at what they do leave things alone. You cant6 fix something that's not broke.
