Vote against keeping the Rebels Mascot and we will vote you off the board. And I doubt you not relatives would be very welcome in our community. Everyone has to accept things and work together. The Rebels mascot does not imply racism but the mere attempt to take it away will spark it. The kids in school do not need to see this. I witnessed it in 1991. Our Rebel Pride means something to every Byrnes student regardless of their race.

Enough is enough! Funny that the person pushing this played football at Byrnes and was Mr. Byrnes......he sure didn't seem to oppose being a Rebel then!!!

This name does no harm to anyone. It's history which means its in the past. People are racist not a school mascot! I feel it's discrimination by blocking the past for a few when its the past for all!

Rebel does not mean racist. To me it means a person capable of independent thought who stands up for what she/he believes and is grateful for all that has been provided by past generations.

I wish all this mess of renaming places and in other cities their stupid enough to even dig up the ancient dead Confederate soldiers' and their families! This has gotten so out of control stupid! Surely South Carolina can do better than join in on all this foolishness!
