Reinstate the changes made to the graduation program to allow Regina Public Schools Students to have a full graduation banquet

Don't take this away from kids who deserve it

Imagine that this is the year your son or daughter is graduating. What would you want? You'd want to be there with them to celebrate this achievement. You'd want them to be safe and sound surrounded by friends and family in a supervised, responsible environment. You would not want to be part of the one and only year that a significant mistake was made in dropping it. For some of these students it has been a tremendous battle to get to this point. Reward them for a job well done. Give them their celebration.

I am extremely disappointed in this SURPRISE decision. My daughter is graduating this year and has been looking forward to and preparing for the entire graduation experience to now find out that it has been cancelled. Grade 12 is stressful enough with trying to obtain good marks to reach future goals, they should not have to spend their time fighting for something they have more than earned and deserve!

I want my grade 12 banquet. Mostly for the food but I want my banquet none the less.

I certainly hope the teachers, parents and students can find a reasonable solution to this matter. Sharing Graduation with family was a memorable event for me. I would like my grandson and his friends to have a similar experience. They have earned it.

I think that this could have been dealt with in a different way. If it's truly about money then find ways to fundraise.

Kids have waited their entire lives for this, not to mention parents and grandparents. What's next? School sports because some kids can't afford the fees involved.

This is rediculous.

My parents are going to have an 8 hour trip to come and see me graduate just to see me walk across a stage and pick up a diploma which takes 10 seconds... The banquet was a time to look back at us and reflect our hard work. I want it how it was for sure!

My grandchildren really looked forward to their grade 8 grad, I did as well. It's a big move from elementary school to high school

They deserve it! !

Why shouldn't students be allowed an after grad party?!?!! After all the years they've been put on as it is then why take it away from them now? I say let them have it!!

This change is way too sudden. Change it four years from now so grade 9's don't go through 4 years of high school waiting for their grad banquet only to have it cancelled with no say what so ever. This is what the senior class is thinking right now.

This is an important part of a students life. Don't take it away.

The graduation banquet is something students look forward to and taking that away would be extremely disappointing!! I look forward to being able to attend a graduation banquet for BOTH of my kids as I know mine was an important night for me.

Make things right. Change it back.

With previously graduating four years ago I know how important that entire day was. It wasn’t about who had the most expensive dress, or the most guests it was about celebrating that accomplishment of finishing high school, and sharing that day with my fellow graduates, friends, family and teachers. That day was a tradition I looked forward since the moment I understood what grade 12 graduation was and I am every grade 12 student and the ones to follow can understand and the way this decision was made was wrong.
