Reinstate the changes made to the graduation program to allow Regina Public Schools Students to have a full graduation banquet

Huge part of graduating! Tradition since long before I graduated in 73. Students and parents look forward to this. A tradition that should be continued.

I know make this a learning experience let the kids help plan the event and call it a class. PLan organize and execute a big event like this is good life skills..BRING IT BACK....

The kids deserve a banquet , if the staff needs help planning and getting things done , they need to get parents and kids involved. Who cares if so and so has a $2000.00 dress or what that's not this is about.

The banquet/dance and all the preparation leading up to it are an important ritual for families and the only part of the graduation process that is open to families to do together. The cap and gown doesn't even have the child sitting with the parents. There are many ways to cut or share costs and still maintain the principal of celebration as a family with other families you have known throughout your child's education. And also allowing the kids to feel special by dressing special rather than in the same outfits as everyone else. If something had to go, the cap and gown was the least valuable to my family. Please reconsider this decision.

The kids or the parents that don't want a grad don't have to go. Don't punish the ones that do!!!!!!

This is redicoulos and unfair to majority of students. Many students already spended quite some money on dresses.

Short sighted decision. Should be working to accommodate the minority as opposed to penalizing the majority.

I just graduated last year it's such a great experience and night to end off your 4 years of high school with your forever friends. Its a punishment for the kids. Make a budget for each kid or each school and make everyone else fundraise.

The banquet is an integral part of high school graduation and the students will find a way to carry on with it.

Im a grade 11 student at Balfour and I look forward to still having a banquet. Even if the school doesnt want to host it, the students definetly will do anything for one. Go students!!

As an intern I have heard many reasons why they're shutting it down. Mostly because they state it is equality. If that is the case they should also get rid of shop classes as not everyone can afford those as well. This is ridiculous. Leave it for the students. I loved my grad banquet. It's something everyone looks forward to!

So very very very sad... these kids have looked forward to this day since kindergarden.... why would anyone take it away from them... so very very very sad!!! hopefully the protest on social media will shake sense into the powers that be.

If you want to eliminate the banquet for the reasons stated in the media, that's fine but it's completely unfair to implement those changes to the current graduating class. At least future students would not have the expectation of a banquet if it was eliminated in a future year.

In Regina we can direct our tax dollars to another school system......let's talk about moving funds and see how this will affect the Regina Public Schools....hit them in the pocket book
