Reinstate the changes made to the graduation program to allow Regina Public Schools Students to have a full graduation banquet

I agree with the bottom line about a budget....but there could be other ways to fix this without cancelling the banquet....like.....most high schools have a auditorium and a gym....why don't they have the cap and gown in the school auditorium and have the dance in the gym.....that would save money....plus fundraising like what my school did for grad 12 aftergrad party...and for the dinner (do u really need one) there are lots of schools out there that don't have the dinner they just focus on the cap and gown and the dance.......and when it come to a dress do girls really need a dress that $500+...my grad dress was only $150........then I donated to the woman shelter for some else to use......plus when I went to school they had a grad committee  (teacher/student...they where in charge of the cap and gown and banquet and dance) then we had a after grad party committee  (students/parants.....they where in charge of the after-party).......So if teacher don't want to do it have a committee that's made up of students and and parants and one school faculty member (they don't need to be there..as long as they can be contacted....it more so the school knows what's going on...plus if the want they change the person every now and again....

Every student diserves to have a graduation banquet. After 12 or more years of school, each student deserves a special night to celebrate their achievements. For some kids, graduation might be the only formal venue in their lives. Some may never get married or attend a special banquet. Now, school are taking away, for some students, the one night in their lives to feel special. The one night of their lives dedicated to them. The one night to make them feel beautiful. If it is a cost issue, there must be an alternative or other options for students who cannot afford the costs. Different food or venue options may be available. Possibly, even fundraising could be an option. I do not think this is fair to any student. If it is a cost issue, why not take out grade 8 graduation. Grade 8 graduation is not an achievement. Grade 12 graduation is the last step of teenage life when students enter into adulthood. We should keep banquets for grade 12 graduation because it is a huge achievement for the students and something students look forward to all of hjghschool.

This decision goes beyong the responsibility of the board. Let the grads decide

We got to highschool for 4 years and work son hard to be able to graduate. We deserve to have one last memory of what highschool was like and remember the fun times and celebrating with your friends. This isn't fair.

I graduated last year and the banquet was my favourite part. They worked hard and should get it.

Graduates deserve to have an experience that brings them together and celebrate their accomplishment. I am graduated and the night of my banquet was memorable, this should not be taken away from students.

This is ridiculous....get the students to do a fundraiser specifically for grad, do a bottle drive, there are many options!

Graduation is the biggest event for high school and the banquet is a big part of their special night. Get real!

I would love to be able to celebrate my grad in 2017. Its a chance to celebrate your school life and have fun with your friends. I Dont understand why people would cancel it?!

the states do prom, we have banquets. The schools encourage fundraising for certain events and trips, if the students are willing to organize something to raise money for a lower cost banquet then why not! It's a wonderful way to celebrate their accomplishments and it's a safer alternative in my opinion. Have a prom and I believe it opens a door for students to participate in certain activities that are not safe such as alcohol and or drugs. Don't get me wrong I know a lot of students likely already are involved with one or the other at some point but atleast if they have an event where there parents and other relatives are present they can be held a bit more accountable for their choices and actions. I understand how much work teachers take on already as it is, but when it comes to banquets I feel that is one event where all could be set aside. I think I speak for a large portion of the student body when I say, they appreciate the time and effort teachers are willing to put forth and enjoy speeches and toasts that remind us just how much we meant to them and how proud they are of accomplishments. Bring back banquets it's been tradition for years and students look forward to this so much.

It's tradition. Nearly every school has it. Cost shouldn't be a factor. Highschool Graduation is a once in a lifetime thing for a student and it is ruined by taking away the traditional banquet.

We have spent years dreaming about this night, please don't take that away.

I hope that my fellow grade 12s all over Regina can experience leaving high school and starting a new chapter in their lives on a high note

This event is what the grads look forward to.

I think that the students work very hard and look very forward to their grade 12 grad and have earned it and we should not be taking this celebration away from them.

I feel that you are taking away from our children by not having a graduation ceremony they work hard to get there and you stomp there hearts why I want to see my children graduate grade eight because it is the start of a new chapter in there life moving into high school so please let them enjoy the last memory of grade school with a graduation
