This was a very unfair and unjust decision by the Regina Public School Board. This not only effects students, but also a whole locally owned industries that cater to graduations, who's lively hood will be affected significantly. There should have been consultations, with parents, students, and industry leaders (Regina Chamber of Commerce).

I would more than willing to organize a private ceremony for my daughter's graduation class if this petition does not help change the RPSB minds.

I think this is very unfair. These students have worked hard for 4 years and would like to celebrate their success with family. I'm sure all parents, students and grandparents will help with fundraising if necessary. There should have been consultations and requests for input if this is truly a money issue? Reinstate this tradition!!!!!

You need to find a different solution you fix this. 4 years of high school. Graduation day and ceremonies are what they look forward too. Fundraise, ask local businesses for donations, etc etc whatever. There are options...

Every one should get to experience all aspects of grad. It is an optional Canadian tradition that should not be compromised.

Honestly? Schools already took away the word of god, national anthems, Halloween costumes, individuality now you're going to take something else away from the children that YOU went to school to teach and take care of? really? why? So sad.

This was one of the most important parts of graduating from highschool in 2001. To not afford the students other options in funding this event, but simply removing it is ridiculous. I'm astonished and disappointed in our school board.

I really don't believe taken away the graduation banquet from Graduates will not make many families very happy. I have 2 children that are going to be graduating with in the nest two years. There is a lots of nephews, nieces, and grandchildren that will be graduating in the near future and I would love to sit in all of grade 12 graduates banquets.
As I parent I would not think I would have to sign a petition against the Regina School Board on there changes they want to make...

Taking away the banquet isn't going to stop people from getting drunk. Replacing it with a dance well that's when kids will show up drunk. Nobody wants to go to a prom, it's not family orientated like the banquet.
