Reinstate the changes made to the graduation program to allow Regina Public Schools Students to have a full graduation banquet

if my sister doesn't get to experience all that comes with graduation I'm not going to be happy with rps. Already have changed so much. Give the kids some freedom. We're not little kids anymore.

I for one am OK with the decision. We have had 2 children graduate and have another 2 coming up in the next few years. Ceremony followed by a come and go function and no complex meal and dance. Kids can then have their own Prom/Dance by themselves on a separate day. We would still help pay for tickets to offset this cost of the Conexus Main Theater, which according to their web site rents for $2500. We have always had a separate party at our place where the children are supervised and all the kids have had a great time and many have commented it was far better than the after grad party they had.

This information has been shared at the Knoll Parents Community Council meeting for a number of months. It is a real shame that approx 8 parents show up for these meetings when we have a large school population. Part of the issue is liability. People drink and drive and sue. There was an incident a few years ago of kids climbing in the Arts Center and one fell and died. Perhaps someone would like to volunteer to sign the contract and accept responsibility? You may wish to investigate further before commenting. Perhaps there is a solution or comprimise that might make everyone happy? Minutes of meeting are on Knoll web site.

It's October... Graduates have enough time to throw fundraisers together if that's the underlining issue here. I didn't graduate last year on time, I'm ashamed of it. Not being able to experience everything my old classmate got to would just worsen my regrets 1000x more:(

This is what every grad looks forward to . Plus it will hurt local businesses who depend on grad season.

What disturbs me is there were no discussions with parents via email, letter or a vote etc. they say the cost is too expensive then let the school board or each individual school give a breakdown of what the costs are for the venue and any additional expenses price per plate decorations etc.

This is sad. I want to celebrate with my daughter. I had a great time at my grade 12 grad. I loved it! If it's getting to expensive, then let's get it back to what it should be - a dinner with family and friends in recognition of a great accomplishment.

This decision was made without mass consultation with RBE parents..At the very least allow students currently in high school to have a graduation banquet and ,if you must, then phase them out for any current grade 8 students. There are students, in high school now, that have worked exceedingly hard and are looking forward to not only the cap and gown ceremony but the banquet too, it's a chance to say farewell to friends and to show the world that they have become adults.

Thats a aweful thing to do by taking something so special away from kids who have worked so hard!

Every one deserves a graduation ceremony.

It's insane that we can't get the same priveleges as catholic schools in regina. if families can't afford this then we should come up with a program to help funding instead of cutting off the best part of any graduates' year by not even giving them the opportunity to speak their minds.

The kids work so hard to Graduate and complete there high school and this is a good time for them to dress up and have their parents have a formal dinner with them and make memories and dance with their friends! Let's keep things the way the are!!
