my own graduation banquet was such an amazing way for me to cap off my high school experience. to deprive an entire grad class of this iconic high school event because of the actions of a few students is unfair and unreasonable.

Seems like a lack of creativity -- throwing out the baby with the bath water. Why not have a local level committee that meets to see how the event can be improved to be more inclusive and less expensive. The banquet does have it problems but none that can't be solved.

This is ridiculous! As a former graduate from a catholic high school in Regina, to hear that public schools are doing this is not right. That night that I got to dress up in my dress was one of my most memorable days ever. It felts amazing to get all dolled up with my friends and feel that I deserve to look pretty as I graduate. Cap a gown is boring and long and I didn't feel graduated until after the banquet. It was so much fun and truly and amazing night!

This is absolutely ridiculous, this is something the kids have been looking forward to for a few years, and to take it away from them is completely unfair. If it's too much work for teachers to plan, I'm sure patents will step up and organize, like they do for the after grad events. Talk about being all inclusive, this will divide the students, as different cliques will organize their own events. Absolutely ridiculous.

all of the kids should be allowed to experience something like this! they didn't go to school for such a long time to not have something like this celebrated, and to get all dulled up with their friends and have fun!

They deserve to have a banquet!! Every school has had one for many many years why break the tradition all of a sudden!! This is what the students are looking forward to getting all dressed up and makeup and grad dresses!! Than they obviously did it for nothing if your guys are taking this away

The process and communication of this decision was not acceptable at all. Parents and students should be allowed meaningful input, as well as the opportunity to work with the schools to create solutions to the stated issues

Keep graduation ceremonies and dances ! These kids have been working hard to get to this point and deserve some special ceremony and dance afterwards! This is the last celebration these kids will have together so why cut it off at finals? This is absolutely ridiculous if they do not get their dance and suppers and whatnot! Bring back Grad!!!

This is another example of taking away a rite of passage because of the few that can't afford or refuse to participate. Stop punishing the majority.

My graduation banquet was the best part of my high school experience. It's what every grad looks forward to, the pretty dresses, the last few meaningful talks, the final class pictures and so much more. If the teacher and principals are so desensitized to it then maybe they a bit of a reality check and need to not be so self centered.
