Reinstate the changes made to the graduation program to allow Regina Public Schools Students to have a full graduation banquet

Give us back our banquet. The students look forward to this!!

This is so unfair to the students who have worked so hard these past 4 years in high school and have looked forward to grad. I had two kids graduate and we fundraised so much money we could pay for all the students banquet tickets, plus we paid for the decorations at the banquet and everything for the after grad.. My Grandson graduates next year and as a Grandparent was looking forward to celebrating this wonderful occasion with him at his banquet. Yes the Cap and Gown ceremony is very important but the kids need to be able to experience the whole grad experience and that includes the Banquet and Dance. The people making this decision most likely attended a Grad Banquet when they Graduated so why should our students not have one. Hopefully the School Board will re- think this decision. Why were the parents and students not in on this discussion in the first place.

I worked hard these part 4 years and looked forward to this banquet since attending my brothers graduation years ago. Not fair at all for taking this away from us WITHOUT letting us have any say in this .

These kids need a safe and healthy way to celebrate their success.

If money is the issue, the parents should be told about it so fundraising can happen, not the school board saying too bad it's cut out. if the expense is too much for some students, then that's where fundraising can come in. If they think that the formal attire is to expensive, there are second hand stores that have nice formal wear, pages on Facebook that offer used formal wear in the city,and also websites like Kijiji or Usedregina where people who have already graduated want to either sell there formal attire or give it away for free. It was really inconsiderate for the School Bard to just make this decision without discussing the alternatives. Lots of students look forward to this day for years and it's unfair to take this day away from those people who are already in high school and have been looking forward to it.

It would be nice to have more of an explanation as to why this was done away with and why parents weren't consulted first! Alternatives could have been discussed if there are issues for some of the parents.

It's ridiculous

its absolutly crazy that they would even consider getting rid of this tradition, our kids have worked hard and deserve to have the full graduation experience! why not figure out solutions to problems instead of backing away from them and doing nothing instead what is that teaching our children when it gets tough to stop doing it... definatly not the lesson i want my children to learn!

Everyone deserves a grad banquet it's the best part of graduating

I think every grade 12 should have the opportunity to Celebrate with other classmates, in a safe environment....we all in the past had ban quets following and it never hurt anyone....what do we cut out next....we seem to be cutting out this and that and that and this....and someone as much as Graduation after a long long run of highschool can't have something to celebrate with, with their peers....this is the end of School, for some.....they move on to adult life never to step foot in a school again, maybe they do.....but to me this is a Huge adjust phase...and they have worked hard to get to this point...of entering life....let them have a last horray....cause next its work and more work.....

When I graduated grade 12 we fundraised for the whole school year, for both the banquet and the chem free after grad. I loved my banquet way more than the cap and gown. As a student the cap and gown is very boring and the banquet is where you get to relax and celebrate your graduation. Now as a parent I look forward to the day that my children graduate from high school. We don't have a lot of money, but it's not like I don't know it's coming for 18 years. There are always ways to make something work with planning and foresight. It sounds like the schools just don't want the hassle of organizing it any more and are coming up with weak excuses to justify that. I also don't agree with the people saying that parents could just get involved and organize a private banquet themselves. I don't see how that scenario would include every student and how it would be more cost effective for low income families.

I'm willing to help others in how everyone in this world should be treated. We all in the same boat not aganist it.

Stop breaking tradition. Our kids deserve this celebration.

There should still be a supper !! If some can't afford it they could do some fundraising to help those family's !! My boys both graduated from WKC and the supper was important and fun for all friends and families

I don't feel the reasons for cancelling banquets are completely honest. And even so, there are other solutions and alternatives. The RPSB has absolutely no productive problem solving skills, not just on this topic.

Everyone should have a high school graduation party. It's a milestone that should be celebrated!
