I have 7 grade in RCMS. It's unfair for him to go to another school for one year, and for me to try to figure out how I am going to carpool him.

This last minute reassignment is unfair and will negatively impact many families!

My niece loves being at this school and would be devastated to get sent elsewhere.

People make life changing decisions to move into an area with a good school assignment. Don’t do this!!!!

Reedy Creek Middle School is only in its 3rd year as a magnet school. The program has just been expanded to offer higher levels of the elective classes. Reassigning such a large portion of the base students (and their parents who are active on the PTA) will set the school back. RCMMS has really just had time to get where it should be- a fully enrolled school with a strong program. I know, My older child attended RCMS and was in 8th grade for the 1st year of the magnet program. Changes made by WCPSS, Mr Evans and his staff at RCMMS along with the parents and students in the past few years have made RCMMS a great school. Please don't set the school back. It is too soon to make a change. Taking away so many of the base students will mean that there are fewer students to take the higher level elective magnet classes offered at RCMMS. Will some of these classes then need to be dropped because there are too few students with the necessary prerequisites? My son is a current 6th grader at RCMMS and is taking full advantage of the magnet offerings. He is a base student from the Farmington Woods neighborhood. If this was not our base school, we would have applied here (since we are base, we did not have the opportunity to apply as magnet). Please reconsider this drastic change. At the very least, grandfather rising 7th graders in with the rising 8th graders.

The level of reassignments from RCMMS to ECMS is very suspicious, making me wonder why other western Wake County communities are not equally affected

Current 7th grader; lack of transport despite grandfathering would be insurmountable to keeping her at the school she loves.

I understand the need to reallocate the base. I understand that my current 3rd grader should likely be assigned to ECMS. Totally understand the need to look at school reallocation with respect to changes in the population and development. However, my current 6th and 7th should be able to remain with transportation.

This...grandfathering rules favor dual parent families with a single income. This school was developed into a magnet to improve it for economically disadvantaged students. They did not give a number and won't! however, the size of the base change looks to 1/3-1/2.

My elder son went to this school 10 years ago, we always planned to send our son to this school. We have been excited to see it improve over the years and when it is actually a very good school we are kicked out of it! Please keep it as it is!

My family has spent time, energy, and money making RCMMS our kids' school through volunteer work, helping other student families with carpool etc. Please allow us to reclaim the benefits of our efforts.

I have no interest in ECMS. None! RCMS is my base. Keep it that way - please.

We attend Farmington Woods as a magnet family and are applying to Reedy Creek as a magnet in January. If accepted, we would like to be able to attend there along with other Farmington Woods base families who will go to Reedy Creek as their base.

My son is a 6th grader at RCMMS and I'd like to see him stay at the school where he is already making friends and building relationships with teachers and staff.
