Support Safe Streets—Without Eliminating Prospect Street Parking

Almost all streets off Prospect have permit parking only, or near the high school 2 hours parking only. We already have issues with parking off Prospect Street near the Parker and Franklin Street.

Im all for safe streets and promotion of bicycle use but I think alternate routes other than tan yellow lined main thoroughfares like Prospect Street, Springfield Ave., Valley or Parker should be considered. These are too heavily traveled by motor vehicles which makes little sense for use as safe bicycle lanes. Pick adjacent side streets for everyone’s safety.

I support safe biking but this plan does not seem well conceived. I am especially concerned about the one way on Oakland and the issue of traffic on summit and Oakland and Plymouth

Parking is already abysmal. This would be pure insanity.

No bike lane!

The street is too narrow and busy to support bike lanes. Other streets should be explored for bike lanes.

We need street parking!

I can not believe anyone thinks this is an advisable action. Cars exiting or entering their driveways, already in fear of being hit, will be evermore frustrated by moving obstacles. The road is to narrow to be face with cars and bike lane

As a neighboring resident and employee of a dental office on this street, this is beyond unsafe not to mention the school area, where many people are walking and driving to school, oncoming traffic from Springfield Avenue is dangerous enough!

I work here and I think it’s a very unsafe plan.

Please don’t ruin our street

I live on Prospect Street and I’m concerned about increasing demands on our streets that will make them even more dangerous.

Save the Church 527 Prospect St

It’s ridiculous to eliminate parking when it’s so desperately needed especially in an area where there’s a high school and so many events are held. Not everyone can walk or bike. It is unfair to the residents of Prospect St as well since when they bought their homes, they did not expect that the zoning of the parking would change. In the time when so many deliveries were made it seems an odd choice to expect trucks to park blocks away.

There does not appear to be enough cyclists in this area to justify the expense and inconvenience for residents, mail and other delivery services. Until sufficient time has passed to enable a full analysis of how many cyclists actually make use of the Parker Avenue bike lanes, and how often and at what cost to tax payers the signage has to be repainted, the idea of moving forward with more bike lanes should be cancelled.

Not being able to park on Prospect Street would be a grave inconvenience to me and my neighbors.
