Prince Albert Increases Rec Fees for RM Residents

This is absurd

So rural children, who may be getting raised to become the next farmers so city children can eat, are going to be penalized? Just ridiculous. Children’s activities are expensive enough as it is and there are no rural activities. Don’t punish the kids or you won’t get any of their rural money.

The kids programs are e xpansive as it us, how dare you charge an additional fee for each kid.

I am a Buckland resident paying high property tax along with work in the city. I do my shopping and my kids attend city schools in the city along with extra curricular activities. I am already paying an excessive income tax. Only the kids will suffer because people can barely pay their bills and adding another unnecessary fee is discouraging to people working in your city.

How are the people who pay city taxes and do not use facilities are being reimbursed.

this is unfairly punishing children and families who deserve the same recreational opportunities as PA city residents. Just cause they don't pay residential PA property tax doesn't mean they don't contribute to the local economy in other ways such as grocery shopping, purchasing clothing and other goods, gas, buying tickets to events, eating at restaurants, own businesses or provide services in the city, the list goes on. It shouldn't even be about money anyways, they are part of our community and is unfair and greedy to try and capitalize off of them this way.

Let’s not discourage people from putting kids in sports! I have 3 small boys I want them to play sports but I can’t afford to pay another 450 a year

The city receives revenue sharing and grants from all levels of government that all tax payers contribute to. This is not meant to exclude or discourage those living in the Greater Prince Albert Area from participating. Creating more barriers and discouraging young people from participating in sport is not the part of our community.

RMs have cancelled their clubs and now we have no choice but to join the PA teams. I understand the reason for the increase but in my opinion it’s hard enough for the RM family’s to have to spend the increase for travel expenses and to add additional expenses on top of that is just another thing to discourage parents from putting children into sporting activities. Please consider this point of view when making this decision.

Is it a coincidence that he made this decision in an election year? I'm sure in a few months he's going to be spouting in his election campaign what a firm hand he has used with the RMs. In reality he's punishing our kids.

We buy our groceries and our gas and everything else in the city of PA but we are expected to pay more in fees.... ridiculous

All kids deserve the opportunity to participate in sports. By doing this Greg you are taking AWAY opportunities. Shame on you.

I am business owner within the city of Prince Albert. Even so, being that we are living out of the city I am punished. Very difficult to want to help within the city when the solution is to outcast us and our children. Are my business taxes not enough??

Supporting for my friends

There has to be another solution to get funds. It shouldn’t be coming at the expense of kids recreation and sports.

Unjust and unfair! We still work and support Prince Albert.

I would gladly pay the same yearly fee city address tax payers have to pay to use the same facilities.
