Question: Why isn't Whackitdownyerneck Mobilefoodtruck coming to Pictou?
Answer: The Town of Pictou has a by-law whereby it will charge mobile food vendors a fee of $275/week to set up shop.
.Concern: It is felt that $275/week is an extremely hefty price tag for a small entrepreneur to pay for 4 hours a week. The surrounding towns of New Glasgow, Stellarton, Westville and Trenton charge a nominal fee of $100, $25, $30 and $0 respectively. Why does Pictou have a huge price tag?
Next Steps: Attend the Town Of Pictou Town Council meeting being held on May 19th at the Town Offices to raise the question

I never imagined this much energy behind the idea of getting decent street food in town but here we are and honestly it feels like the council might actually have to listen now. It is wild to think that a simple by-law shift could open up so much potential for local entrepreneurs because honestly the current fee is just absurd especially compared to what the neighbors charge.

This is crazy! People love this food truck and follow it around the towns. This truck would bring people to town and they would also see what else Pictou had to offer them. We the customer choose what we want to eat, a food truck is not comparable to a cafe or sit down restaurant!!
We should be trying to encourage o more business to come to Pictou mobil. e or not. Maybe this is shutting out more entrepreneurs from also being here. Surely people look at our empty store fronts and homes does this not tell a story.
For 4 hours a week how much business are the town locals going to lose. They are gonna lose more business by fighting this and not wanting small business in for one day a week for 4 hours. 16 hours a month is all the Newf wants. Great guy and an awesome chef. No matter what Corey keep it up man they are the only ones who are missing out on excellent food and great service.
275/week??????? So approx. $13,200 per year??! Absolutely rediculous, and outrageous. The town should be embarrassed for themselves!
Shame on my Town, Council does not voice my thoughts on this issue. I welcome this new business in my town. I feel a small land user few of $20 a month would be more in line. If any fee applies at all ..

I think this would be wonderful, Pictou needs more selections of everything, just think of the business this young man will get as well with all this controversy!!

When we bought property in Pictou 5 years ago we were very surprised that a historic waterfront town did not have a food truck. Now we know why!!
