Our Children Deserve a PSB Budget that Prioritizes THEM

The teachers at BHS are excellent. The conservatory program is excellent. We need to retain these positions and cut the number of administrators. Every $ makes a difference. Teaching is paramount.

The administration of PSB who are responsible for the mismanagement that led to the budget shortfall should step and and ensure that student programs are protected. Children of Brookline are the stakeholders that are being punished by mismanagement. Gutting programs for public school students is no way to provide an equitable education for children.

It would be helpful to see a detailed, itemized list of all expenses incurred by PSB's central administration.

Our children shouldn't pay the price for budget cuts. We should find the money in the administrative costs of the school and the town needs to re-evaluate how it is investing in the education of our children given a point of pride in Brookline is our school system. Our schools are on the decline and our teachers and students are paying the biggest price, especially under this budget proposal.

This is outrageous and unacceptable, particularly after the idiotic decision last year to get rid of foreign language for elementary school students. The entire point is to give the kids more, not less. We clearly need new leadership and a much leaner central administration.

Arts are not a luxury. Eliminating Orchestra will crush students, including my son, who have worked on their craft for years.

It is both outrageous and deeply embarrassing that PSB has mismanaged its budget to the point of an $8M deficit. The fact that student programs and essential staff are on the chopping block while central administration remains untouched is a blatant failure of leadership. Art and culture are not luxuries; they are necessities of life, and we must not deprive our children of this essential part of their development and humanity.

Yes, please prioritize positive effects on the STUDENTS when making any difficult budget decisions. However, I think our main issue is with the Town Meeting. Dear Town Meeting, Please prioritize EDUCATION when making the town budget! Dear School Committee, you have our attention; how can we best help you get the money you need?

Loosing language education K-6 last year was astonishing. The additional cut proposed are disastrous. Brookline public school education was highly regarded, I don’t understand what will be left of it.

My daughters 3/4 grades at Driscoll have classrooms that are over capacity of the building code.
