I have work for both kia and hyundai for just alittle under 3 years now and have been in the automotive industry just shy of 8 years, THIS IS TERRIBLE. Now alot of technicians and mechanics tell the stories and the horror of "warranty flag times", being apart of our jobs most just take it and move on to the next job. HYUNDAI and KIA HAVE GONE TO FAR!!!! With known problems to the 2.4 and 2.0 engines from a business stand point this makes no sense, WHY burn the people that solve your problems and terrible manufacturing practices ?!?!?!? The automotive repair field is dwindling, with very few individuals actually want to take the time and effort to learn the knowledge and skills necessary to do the trade.! As and apprentice technician working to further himself in the industry I find this down right disheartening, and seriously makes me considering "jumping ship" to a different brand.

kia is already making it hard enough to complete these recall correctly. By always revising and changing their requirements for repair. but lowering the time to complete it, is just salt in the wound.

Over the last 10 years of being a Kia technician I have seen labor times drop lower and lower, but there has never been a cut to a labor time this bad. This cut is going to cost not just the technician but will cost the entire dealership. I cant see the justification, dealerships should not have to offset the cost of faulty manufacturing.

It's not reasonable to get paid for engine replacement. Even when you do paer work before and the pay rate before was unreasonable.

The technicians shouldn't have to pay the for Kia's warranty. They should still be paid what they normally get from anything repairs.

My son is a Kia technician and is always in pain whether his back or shoulders, knees...etc. These manufacturers are asking to lose their best techs at this point

With in the last 6 months I remember . "mandatory" web course . It was called "PROMISE TO CARE". I am guessing this course was only for techs. Has any of the higher ups at Kia or Hyundai taking this course. Since 1996 I have been working for Hyundai and KIA . It just turns my stomach that I have invested 26 years of my life to be one the best Korean car Techs that I can be .. Should I move on to another manufacture? Sounding like a great Idea right about now. Thank you Kia for lowering times on just about everything. .2hrs for a kds scan ???? really . Your reasoning was that the tablet was some much faster . I don't think so . Every time you open it tablet has to due a update . Do we get paid for this ? NO . Or the fact now we have up to 30 modules to scan . Kia has denied claims for Kds scans because NO codes in system . How would we know if there are codes unless we scan it . PAY US for our TIME.!!!!!! PAY US for our KNOWLEDGE.!!!!! Engine recalls was just another thing you decided to cut times on . It wasn't the 1st. I did "CARE" . I was proud working on Korean cars. I tried to talk people into buying one. How can I do that now KIA? I don't even want to own one anymore. I could go on and on about all the stuff you have cut times on. I'm sure a few us will remember when you tried to cut labor on recall for Sorento door latches. SIGNED Pete Simonsen Former Platinum Hyundai Tech and maybe Former Master KIA Tech .

"We the technicians" do not deserve to be punished due to a manufacturer that cannot manufacuture a decent engine.

I would like to see the justification for cutting labor times, in some cases 3-4 hours. When the previous labor times already had a study guide, with well over 50+ different labor operation codes. Without the best techs in the world.. your IQS drops, your KSI drops, and the safety of your customers are at risk. This will make those techs leave this manufacturer. What in the world were you thinking when you came up with this "new time guide"? If Kia knew they had a problem with the engine assy, why not fix the problem. Why continue to cut the guys that are fixing your mistake.

Hyundai gold tech, many times certified kia master tech, certified kia service writer and former certified Kia service manger.
I left dealerships after 16 years because this is EVERY warranty repair or campaign! It was near impossible to hire techs because who should have to hang two engines for a 10 hr day!? The level of greed here is insane!
They deserve better.
