Pistol Australia members are requesting that the rule changes passed on November 1st, 2015 regarding junior shooters at ISSF/PA National Championships be rescinded. This new rule states that "...for Juniors to compete in both the Junior and Senior matches that they will only shoot the match once, with the option to have the score count towards both categories providing pre nomination within the entry form."
Juniors enjoy and thrive on the experience to be able to shoot twice, once for junior and once for senior matches. It gives them vital experience at higher level competitions and allows them to truly experience an endurance, off-gun style event.
Please rescind the decision to only allow junior shooters to shoot once and have their score counted twice and reinstate the rules which governed previous to November 1st, 2015.

The massive surge in support proves the Pistol Australia board cannot ignore our frustration any longer. They think they can cut corners on junior development but this momentum shows exactly how many of us are ready to force a reversal.

Some competition protocol and etiquette can only be learnt on a range, what better forum for this than side by side in their chosen sport with some of its iconic men and women right in the booth next door. My job would be incomplete if not to inspire this into our protege's, let the rules allow this to flourish. Club coach A000999.
This rule will negatively impact the long term future of our sport. At times when PA's junior talent pool has been a little shallow it has been the ability for juniors to compete with seniors as well as their colleagues that has provided them with the experience they need to be successful at international levels. This rule prioritises the ease of squadding over the long term future of our sport and needs to be rescinded.
This is one of the worst ideas pa has ever came up with I would not have been to 3 Olympics 3 Comonwealth games without the experience of shooting with the men at the Nationals their is already to many juniors leaving the sport and this will just make it harder for them to want to keep going in the sport we all love. This will kill our sports future everybody asks what can we do to keep juniors interested in pistol shooting. It's simple no one likes to loose and if this happens then when juniors become seniors they will loose and bye bye shooting. Thanks pa for destroying any hope we have for the future junior shooters.
I believe that juniors should have the option to shoot one or the other or both matches and their scores should reflect that match shot not just credited to a senior match that they didn't even shoot.
As a junior I think we should be able to shoot on both junior and senior matches to gain experience
Being able to compete in both junior and senior matches not only allows the junior more experience but gives them the opportunity to see what it will be like when they are no longer a junior. It also encourages new junior shooters and promotes longevity in the sport.

Not only does this rule change limit the development of junior shooters, but disadvantages all junior and senior shooters competing in the senior match - weather conditions, range officers, how well the range technology operates etc. can change and impact the performance of the shooters, especially in the instance of when the juniors shoot on a different day to the women.
