Considering how congested and dangerous this intersection already is, building a hotel here is a terrible idea. There is already enough high rise buildings in Cheltenham and starting to build them on that side of the Napean just opens up the opportunity for more in the future. It is sad to see such a beautiful historic suburb being overtaken by multiple townhouses, apartments and high rise buildings. Also being next to a school raises serious concerns about the additional traffic and parking issues!

The area is already significantly congested, what with a busy school across the road and the intersection to a major roadway to the south east. The traffic backlog in a morning or afternoon is enough already without adding to it a hotel. I see no advantage to the community in having a hotel at the end of the street. It adds no value.

The traffic is already atrocious there and right across from a primary school ... can’t think of much worse of a location for us locals

Terrible location for this proposal . The proposed entry for traffic is right at the traffic lights which are already always congested - I don’t think there is enough parking planned for either where will all the cars go ? We already have quest across the road .

Ridiculous building a hotel next to residences and a school

The site is totally unsuitable for a hotel eg traffic at busy intersection, proximity to school, vicinity of nearby hotels

Having children attending the school opposite I know what the traffic is like on that corner. It will be absolute mayhem.
I don’t believe adding a hotel to this particular corner of suburban Melbourne will add any benefit to the Cheltenham community. Unable to control the types of individuals who will be using this facility being a hotel, it is far too risky.
Absolutely against this development and will continue to fight it.

I object to this proposal as it is opposite a primary school, the congestion at that intersection is already chaotic, and the character of the area on that side of the road is residential not commercial.

Centre Dandenong Rd is all ready an extremely busy road with a back log of traffic sometimes back 100 to 200 metres East of Nepean Hwy and with the new Freeway at the other end of Centre Dandenong Rd it will become much more of a nightmare during peak hrs

Having done some work on this intersection for VicRoads previously, I know that in order to alleviate some congestion thus property needs to be partially acquired, not sold and a hotel built. Whilst I understand the use is within the zoning etc, this land needs to be acquired for the greater good to provide an additional lane on the east approach.

As a Cheltenham resident, I think that a hotel would not provide any value.

The increase in construction and population is not a sustainable economic model. It only creates large profits for developers at the cost of local residents taking away the living environment and society all are entitled to over greed.

Too much development & traffic in the are a now.. takes me up to 10 mins to get out of coolac street onto Dandenong road now & then another 15 mins to get through neapean hwy lights. Total disaster. Have lived here 20 years & the place is going backwards not forwards. A hotel will only being more riff raff to the area.. especially serviced apartments..most become air bnb & therefore are only used by riff raff. Opposite a school zone is not on also. Hard enough now to pick up children at school time there. Please no more developments just affordable houses for people in the area..
