On March 11, 2020 Oregon Department of Corrections transferred a patient infected with Covid-19 to Shutters Creek Correctional Institute in Coos County, Oregon. The count had had no positive case of Covid-19 free until this inmate was brought to to SCCI. Since the inmate was in the custody of the DOC, we find the DOC liable. For that reason we believe there should be an investigation and lawsuit brought against the Oregon Department of Corrections by the Government of Coos County, State or Federal Government for negligence or even possibly bio-terrorism depending on outcome of investigation.

The momentum behind this is growing and it confirms that we are not the only ones who see the truth of what happened. It is exhausting to fight for accountability against an institution this large but knowing there are so many people behind me helps keep my feet moving forward.

Absolutely someone needs to be responsible for this mess they've brought into our community along with not providing proper due care for our Shutters creek workers, their family, friends and even inmates. I'm immune compromised myself and very close to this facility. If I contact this virus due to the careless decision of someone if able to I'd seek an attorney
Needs investigation asap. Had no confirmed cases of coronavirus until inmate #1 transferred to Shutter Creek, Coos County. Numbers arising each day. Very scary place to go shopping. No visiting grandkids, Zoom for meetings. Please help the staff and inmates get all the testing and PPE as needed.
We as citizens of Coos County have been very diligent and proud that we were Covid-19 free until an infected Adult in Custody was infiltrated into our system of correctional services Our Officers live in and around Coos Bay They shop buy gas and frequent businesses in the population I feel that the person infected was placed at Shutters Creek intentionally
During a mandatory stay-at-home order from the governor of this state inmates were moved from a hot area of the state to our county. Regardless of the reason for that move this should not have occurred during a stay-at-home order.
The facility is to small to even enable the inmates to safe distance as of today guards are still not wearing ppe stating its not mandatory.. they are traveling from one unit to another...inmates are being refused tests at times saying they are done for the day... please consider early release for inmates on an individual basis at least or provide them the basic human right to protect themselves.. they are under your care please show you care! Thank you
The OHA should have set parameters that NO INMATES were to be transferred during a pandemic.
DOC needs to be held accountable for transferring prisoners during a pandemic. I realize this is how the DOC works (transferring prisoners), however whichever MORON in the dept decided that this policy should continue should lose their job.

We have no cases until they transfer that guy know it's exploding we have a small community. I have underlying health issues and I really sincerely don't appreciate what happened and is happening.
