A General Plan Amendment has been submitted to change the land use classification of the vacant lot at the Southwest corner of Val Vista and Germann from SC (Shopping Center) to GC (General Commercial). Additionally, they seek to modify the site development regulations and change mandatory setback requirements. In this case, they seek to reduce the mandatory 75' setback down to 20' where buildings are adjacent to residential property (the buildings will be inappropriately close to our homes!).
This has serious implications. First, the change to General Commercial (GC) allows "more intense" use. The proposed storage facility unto itself creates an eyesore in our neighborhood - it simply doesn't fit. This will undoubtedly have an adverse effect on property values, in contrast to occupants complying with the original land use designation. Additionally, while they state a storage facility is planned, they could easily opt to change their mind with little consequence. Since the land has already been reclassified, any facility complying with "General Commercial" use could be implemented.
Please sign this petition and say "NO" to destroying our property values and decimating the beauty of our community!
