Register our negative position on proposed rezoning of 10401/10431 Prosperity Farms Road
The Village of North Palm Beach is unique because of its focus on families, homes, and community. And the Prosperity Farms Rd corridor is no exception with only homes, schools, and churches stretching from Burns Rd to south of Lighthouse. This proposed change would create the first commercial space amongst mostly single-family residences.
This change will have many deleterious effects including increase in traffic congestion, issues with ingress and egress from a commercial facility onto a 2-lane street, increase danger to the school children coming and going from Allamanda Elementary School, removal of state-protected Gopher Tortoise burrows from their habitat and adjacent nature preserve, etc. In addition, there is the additional concern of the home owners to the effect that a commercial ALF 56-bed facility will have to our residential property values.
As home owners and the neighbors who would most be affected by any change in zoning to the 10401 and 10431 Prosperity Farms Rd lots, we request that the Village of North Palm Beach Planning Commission and the Village Council reject any proposal to rezone the 10401 and 10431 Prosperity Farms Rd lots from Low-Density Residential (R1) to Commercial (C1-A).
